Choose Fairtrade, is an urgent call to people in the UK to engage with the Fairtrade Foundation's vision of an even bigger movement for positive change on unfair trade, including making the switch to buying Fairtrade. This is the theme of Fairtrade Fortnight 2008 (25 February - 8 March), the annual promotional campaign of the Fairtrade Foundation which encourages people to buy products carrying the FAIRTRADE Mark.

Balmoral Show
14th - 16th May
Venue: Kings Hall, Belfast
The Balmoral Show is Ireland's largest agricultural show with fun and entertainment for all the family. Attractions include international show jumping competitions, falconry displays, sheep shearing demonstrations and a craft village. There is plenty on offer for younger visitors too in the Kids' Zone where there is a climbing wall and baby animal farm. With over 370 trade stands in attendance offering everything from handmade leather goods to organic produce fresh from the farm, this a great place to do some shopping and browse for some bargains. The show also has a serious side with exhibiting companies selling goods ranging from industrial farming equipment to the latest 4x4 vehicles.

National Vegetarian Week

National Vegetarian Week (NVW) is the annual awareness-raising campaign promoting inspirational vegetarian food and the benefits of a meat-free lifestyle. Celebrated by The Vegetarian Society since 1992, the Week is now an established event and everyone from small businesses to big corporations, schools, community groups and individuals are welcome to come on board and make the week a success.

BBC Good Food Show Summer

The Highland Show

The 'Highland' is the pinnacle of the Scottish showing year, but its appeal stretches well beyond Scotland's borders to make it one of the UK's premier agricultural shows where exhibiting is essential.
A substantial proportion of the 1,800 livestock exhibitors and competitors appearing at "The Highland" will be making their way from England, Ireland and Wales as well as the Isle of Man.

The Year of Food and Farming

Soil Association Organic Food Festival
6th - 7th September
Venue: Harbourside, Bristol
The Festival incorporates bustling food markets, fashion, textiles, and skincare areas, a green planet pavilion, kids zone, demonstration kitchen, talks programme, food cruises around the harbour, and an arts and entertainment fringe that includes food demonstrations, children's activities, music and street theatre.
The Festival is open to all growers, producers and retailers of certified organic foods, textiles, health and skincare products, with different stand size options to suit a variety of budgets and requirements.
