- 1. i have heard that you use pig fat in your mc flurries, is this true

A lot of urban mythology seems to surround the milkshakes but the facts are much more simple. Each milkshake will have slightly different ingredients depending on its flavour but all milkshakes are made up of around 75% of milk, which comes from the British isles. The full ingredients of the milkshake base (before specific flavouring) are: Milk, skimmed milk, cream, sugar, skimmed milk powder, glucose. Stabilisers: E412 guar gum, E452 sodium phosphate, E407 carrageenan, E466 carboxymethylcellulose. Vanilla flavour. If you would like any further details on the milkshakes or indeed any item on the McDonald’s menu, all food, ingredients and nutritional information are available online in 'Eat Smart' section of www.mcdonalds.co.uk under the 'Nutrition Counter' section.

-
McDonald's had previously used E120 in its Strawberry Milkshakes which is derived from the cochineal beetle. However, the new colouring agent is a beetroot juice concentrate E162 which is a natural extract of beetroot. It would be wise to immediately stop consuming the Strawberry Milkshake and consult your GP or physician for medical advice. (July 2007)

-
The strawberry flavour milkshake syrup does contain some strawberry juice concentrate, plus strawberry flavour. McDonald’s Strawberry Milkshake used to contain E120 cochineal, which is a natural colour sourced from animals, making this unsuitable for vegetarians or those concerned about products of animal origin. But you will be happy to know that McDonald`s no longer uses this ingredient! The colouring used is a beetroot juice concentrate (E162) which is a natural extract of beetroot which makes the Strawberry Milkshake suitable for all to enjoy!

I have been told that some milkshakes and ice creams from Mcdonald are not suitable for muslims as they contain gelatine or some other product that muslims cannot consume is that true? Also what is containes in the milkshake, the ingredients?
-
McDonald's does not classify any of their Menu items as Halal. However, all the Milkshakes are suitable for vegetarians. This is because McDonald's no longer uses E120 cochineal as a colouring in the Strawberry Milkshakes. The new colouring is a beetroot juice concentrate (E162) which is a natural extract of beetroot. A full list of the nutritional breakdowns of all menu items is available in the ‘Our Food’ booklet, which is available for download in the 'Eat Smart' section of www.mcdonalds.co.uk under 'Ingredients list'.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 14. I just saw the images and article of the introduction of halal burgers and meals in your Southall restaurant. As a vegetarian I was shocked to see a picture of a sign saying that the equipment for the vegetable deluxe can be stored with that of the chicken and fish products, this therefore makes the burger non-vegetarian. My questions are therefore; why are you alientating your vegetarian customers? and, what are you doing to make them aware that they are no longer welcome at McDonalds?
-
McDonald's apologises for any confusion caused, but wanted to make you aware that the sign states that 'Only Halal meat and Halal vegetarian equipment should be stored here.' This is purely equipment stored away from other equipment to prevent cross-contamination. The Halal equipment storage rack then divides into different sections: chicken, fish and vegetarian. Rest assured that the vegetarian equipment is always kept separate. In regard to your other point, McDonald's is in no way alienating its vegetarian customers. All vegetarians are most welcome in McDonald's restaurants. The Veggie Deluxe available in selected restaurants, and don't forget the French Fries are suitable for vegetarians. If your sweet tooth needs reminding, all the Milkshakes are suitable for vegetarians, as well as the McFlurries, excluding the Smarties variety. (September 2007)
SEPTEMBER '09 TRIAL RESULT: McDonald’s began this trial because we wanted to assess customer demand for certified Halal food in our UK restaurants. We have learnt that Halal is only popular with a very small percentage of our customers and to offer it we would need to make significant changes to our kitchen procedures and supply chain. Given this, we have decided that we are not currently in a position to roll out Halal food in the UK.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 15. Is it true you make milkshakes out of LARD?!?!? coz that is disgusting! And my teacher says that the salads are less healthy than the burgers! thats abit stupid innit? Gaaaawd whats this world comming to? Love you xXxXx
-
Firstly McDonald's apologises unreservedly for the late reply to your question. There were some technical problems which caused some questions to slip through.
Regarding your question: McDonald’s is constantly surprised by the myths surrounding the ingredients in its food. There is no lard in the Milkshakes. The base ingredients of the Milkshakes are as follows: Milk, Sugar, Whey Powder, Glucose Syrup, Cream (40% Butterfat), Stabiliser (E412 Guar Gum, E407 Carrageenan (Standardised with sugars), Dextrose, E410 Locust Bean Gum. The rest of the ingredients depend upon the flavour you choose. All our different milkshakes have been approved as vegetarian by the Vegetarian Society.
What is 'healthy' or 'unhealthy' is a question up for debate. Nutritionists say that food items can’t be categorised either way, but that it’s a matter of moderation, balance and physical activity in your overall diet. If you would like to compare the burgers and salads, you can find all McDonald’s food ingredients and information in the 'Ingredients List' which is in the 'Eat Smart' section of www.mcdonalds.co.uk. Also, there is a comprehensive list of nutritional and allergen information available at www.mcdonaldsmenu.info.
