2. will you be bringing garlic bread fingers back as part of the happy meal? We are now unable to eat in McDs as a family as my son will not eat fries, and the majority of restaurants only seem to carry cucumber rather than carrot sticks (which he would eat). He adored the garlic bread & we visited far more often because of it.
Sorry to have to bring you the bad news but the Garlic Bread Fingers were only available as a promotional food item and as such were available for a limited time. Although the Cucumber Sticks are still running the Carrot Sticks should be widely available in restaurants. If you continue to experience a lack of availability of the Carrot Sticks please bring it to the attention of the restaurant manager, or you can contact the Customer Services Team by using the ‘Contact Us’ link at www.mcdonalds.co.uk. 5. why do you encourage kids to eat junk food obesity is a common killer now and children are getting fatter this has to stop
McDonald’s has always been aware of the context in which it operates and the need for it to meet the requirements of society and customers in the food and experience that it provides. That’s why over recent years, the company has added new choices to its menu, such as Organic Semi-Skimmed Milk, Orange Juice, Vittel Water, Fruit Bags and Carrot Sticks, changed the recipes of popular food items such as Chicken McNuggets to reduce salt, fat and sugar and introduced better nutritional information without undermining the great taste that people know and love. You may be aware that the Food Standards Agency has devised a nutritional model that profiles food by its fat, salt and sugar content and will inform which products can or can’t be advertised directly to children. The majority of Happy Meal items (with the exception of the Cheeseburger, Milkshakes and non-diet fizzy drinks) are all rated as not being high in fat, salt and sugar.

A vegetarian Happy Meal has been trialled before but didn't prove popular at the time. However, a new trial is underway that does include some additional fruit, vegetable and side choices that are vegetarian. And the company will continue to monitor the consumers' desire for a vegetarian main.

You can always purchase a Happy Meal toy as a separate item if you'd like a toy with your Big Mac meal. There are no plans to extend the Happy Meal four item approach to the rest of the menu for adults - however, McDonald's hopes that every meal brings happiness with it whatever the customer's age. 14. I find that eating a Happy Meal does not generally make me happy. Why is this?
McDonald's is sorry to hear that the Happy Meal doesn't bring a smile to your face. The Happy Meals are designed to help younger customers (and big kids) enjoy their dining experience at McDonald’s to the fullest. Part of that experience is to be happy and comfortable. If the Happy Meals don’t make you smile, why not try one of the Extra Value Meals available on the menu? Or how about a sweet treat such as a McFlurry or hot Apple Pie? Anyone of these items might just do the trick. (June 2007)

15. how can you justify the way that your seem to mislead children into believeing that happy meals and other childrens food at mcdonalds is healthy? and do you think that it is acceptable to advertise fast food along side the free toys that are given away, when it is obvious that children are going to be drawn to the toys?
McDonald's understands that marketing to children is a sensitive issue. The company aims to be transparent and honest in all its dealing with its customers, especially when it comes to informing parents about the nutritional content of the food that they might choose to provide to their children. All the nutritional facts are available on the reverse of trayliners in restaurant and in the 'Eat Smart' section at www.mcdonalds.co.uk, as well as on the packaging for individual menu items. It might interest you to know that the majority of the Happy Meal menu items comply with the Nutrient Profiling Model from the Food Standards Agency that works on behalf of the Government to devise a common model that clearly shows which foods are high in fat, salt and sugar. The only Happy Meal menu items that are classified as high are the cheeseburger, the milkshakes and the non-diet fizzy drinks. In terms of the advertising, the company realises that this is a sensitive area. A lot of time is spent considering the opinions of parents in order to create marketing and advertising that conveys positive messages to children about food choices, using their imaginations and taking part in physical activity. Many of McDonald's family customers view a trip to the restaurants as a treat that they choose to enjoy with their children and part of that treat is the toy and the tie-ins with their favourite characters.
