What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 107. when you say you sometimes buy products from further afield, how far is that?
-
Probably the furthest is New Zealand, where McDonald’s sources some of its cheese and its fish, which is the Hoki now being used as a sustainable alternative to cod. It should be pointed out that any produce sourced from abroad still has to meet the same criteria as ingredients that come from a UK supplier. And McDonald’s is one of 19 companies signed up to the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative Platform, which ensures, among other things, that local communities are fairly treated. -
Last year McDonald's UK sourced 100 percent of its beef from UK farms, 2,442 of which were Scottish farms. This represents approximately 15 percent of all McDonald's beef but this beef will be evenly distributed across the UK business.

-
No. McDonald’s restaurants in each country maintain their own policies concerning sources of meat and other produce. In the UK and Ireland, there is a very strong beef industry that can supply McDonald’s with large volumes of high quality beef. Irish beef is also exported and will be used in other European markets. However, McDonald’s policy worldwide is to source the very best ingredients locally where possible, and further afield only if necessary.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 111. Ive heard that you produce from over 360,000 of cattle in the UK alone each year. Where do all of these animals come from? Can you tell me how you keep the birth rate at your farms high enough to satisfy this demand?
-
Yes, that is correct. McDonald’s uses just under 367,000 head of cattle each year, which come from around 16,000 British and Irish farms. Because McDonald’s has long and established relationships with these beef farmers, their cattle’s birth rate can be anticipated and planned for well in advance. If you’d like to find out more about how the cattle are bred and reared, have a look at the Quality Scouts section of this website. McDonald’s Quality Scouts are members of the public who have volunteered to visit farms, suppliers and restaurants to see behind the scenes and report on what they find.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 113. Where does your beef come from?
-
All McDonald’s hamburgers are made of beef. Nothing else. Just 100 percent beef, made from whole cuts of forequarter and flank (similar to the mince you'd buy in the supermarket). All that’s added is a pinch of salt and pepper after cooking. The beef is sourced from over 16,000 British and Irish farms, and at times of high demand, from farms in other European Union countries. All these farms produce to the same industry leading standards, and McDonald’s is able to trace exactly which farms the beef comes from, the farmers' names and how the animals were reared.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 114. Do you treat your suppliers fairly?
-
McDonald’s believes that it treats its suppliers fairly, and respectfully. McDonald’s are committed to long-term relationships, with a limited number of supplier partners. For suppliers this means investing with the confidence that they will be treated as partners in the business. Many suppliers have worked with McDonald’s for 10, 20 or even 30 years.

-
Where McDonald's can’t buy ingredients from the UK it tends to buy ingredients from Europe, and also from farther afield if required. All suppliers used by McDonald's UK all meet or exceed the stringent quality standards set as McDonald's do for those in the UK.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 118. where do you get your brugers from
-
McDonald's has a policy to source its ingredients locally wherever possible and last year over 17,200 British and Irish farmers supplied ingredients for the menu items. In fact over 70 percent of the annual food spend is with suppliers from the British Isles. Where McDonald's can't buy ingredients from the UK the ingredients are bought from Europe, and some from farther afield. (Any overseas suppliers of course must meet or exceed the stringent quality standards McDonald's set, as they would if they were from the UK.)

-
The beef is sourced from over 16,000 British and Irish farms, and at times of high demand, from farms in other European Union countries. All these farms produce to the same industry leading standards, and McDonald’s is able to trace exactly which farms our beef comes from, the farmers' names and how the animals were reared. McDonald's chicken meat is from UK and Brazil. All suppliers, whether local or international, must adhere to the same stringent guidelines laid down by the McDonald’s Agriculture Assurance Plans, and the British Poultry Council’s Assured Chicken Production scheme which controls all aspects of chicken farming, including feed and animal welfare.
