17. why does all mc donald's food smell the same?
McDonald’s ingredients and cooking methods are consistent and standardised throughout the UK. As a result, the cooking smells emitted from the restaurants are bound to be similar. However, if you were to isolate the cooking smells for individual menu items a Big Mac would not smell the same as Chicken McNuggets or Filet-o-Fish as they all contain different ingredients.

18. I have purchased the Egg Mcmuffin from you several times now for my breakfast. However, I always ask for it without cheese and it still usually comes with cheese. In addition, on one occasion I found what appeared to be dry/cooked blood in the middle of the egg, is this to be expected when consuming this product?
This should not be the case and McDonald’s apologises for any incorrect orders you’ve received. If you ask for a menu item to be modified, the crew should be happy to accommodate your tastes. All the eggs that are used in the Egg McMuffins (and Sausage and Egg McMuffin and Bacon and Egg McMuffin) are free range shell eggs which are cracked open each morning when preparing the sandwiches. There should not be any dry/cooked blood in any of the eggs that are served. If you are not happy with your food, please bring it to the attention of the restaurant manager. Alternatively, you can call the Customer Services Team on 08705 244 622 so that this can be fully investigated.

McDonald’s will vary the specific pesticide treatment in accordance with advice from each grower. The company works closely with its suppliers to ensure it has access to the best ingredients and will defer to the knowledge and expertise of these growers. McDonald’s UK cannot comment on the pesticides used in other countries.

24. How fresh are the vegetables and sauces that go into the burgers?
McDonald’s tries to use fresh ingredients wherever possible. In the case of vegetables, the Iceberg lettuce and some of the onions are fresh, the dill pickle slices, by the very fact that they are pickled, are not. The sauces are not freshly made but are very similar if not identical to the sauces you would buy in the supermarket. For instance, Heinz make McDonald’s ketchup, Hellmann’s make the mayonnaise, and the mustard and other sauces are made to exclusive recipes especially for McDonald’s.
