1. I recently visited one of your "restaurants" & i decided to use the toilet after my "meal" i noticed that one of your employees had been in the cubicle, having a bowel movement & obviously he needed to wipe himself, i'll assume he did. Why did i then see him walk out of the cubicle & back to behind the counter where he was dealing with "food"?
In the majority of restaurants, the staff concentrate on either cleaning duties or food handling, and there are strict procedures in place to ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained. Staff that clean toilets use cleaning gloves to carry out the job thoroughly and to protect themselves, and in the food handling areas staff wear special aprons and hats to maintain hygiene. In addition, a strict hand washing procedure is in place for all staff which is monitored on a day-to-day basis as part of the manager’s daily task checklist. If you do notice anything that you feel is unhygienic please speak to the restaurant manager or call the Customer Services Team on 08705 244 622 so that your concerns can be investigated. 2. Why can't you guys employ proffesional cleaners to clean the tiolets? surely a multi-billion dollar company like yourselves can afford to invest in this vital service? I am not kidding when i say that every Mc Donalds i have visted never have clean tiolets (you can just imagine) I hope you guys will look into this. Thanks
McDonald's knows how important clean toilets are to customers. The toilets should be checked for cleanliness every fifteen minutes and cleaned as necessary throughout the day. Once the restaurant is closed, a thorough clean of the whole toilet area is undertaken. Over the last few years McDonald's has entered a number of their restaurants in the Loo Of The Year competition run by the British Toilet Association and has been pleased to achieve four or five (out of a maximum of five)stars in over 95 percent of the entries. Cleanliness and hygiene is very important to McDonald's and if you have visited a restaurant that you feel is not hygienic, please speak to the restaurant manager or call Customer Services on 08705 244622 so that your complaint can be investigated. 3. I dont agree with food being handled without the use of gloves. It is unhygienic to do so and all fast food outlets should handle food with the use of gloves. The only fast food outlet which I have seen use gloves are Subway outlets.
In line with UK food industry standards, McDonald's restaurant staff wear special gloves when handling raw meat and uncooked eggs. However they are not required to wear gloves for other food preparation. This is complemented by a strict system of regular hand washing in all restaurants to make sure that all the food produced is safe.

4. what do we do if we find spit in our burger
McDonald’s UK is not aware of any staff member behaving in his way, but any specific allegations of unhygienic behaviour would be taken very seriously. McDonald’s takes great care to make sure that food isn’t contaminated in any way, and if you were to witness behaviour like this you should inform the restaurant manager or Customer Services immediately so that it can be investigated. Any staff caught behaving in this way would be dismissed.

7. Although I am a vegetarian and I do eat at Mcdonalds, like a lot of people I am put off about how staff could handle food like I saw in 'that' horrible burger king documentary a few years ago. Does Mcdonalds have anything in practise to watch how staff treat food?
Yes. McDonald’s train all its staff, before they begin working in a restaurant, on all aspects of food quality, food safety and hygiene. All restaurant staff receive food, safety and hygiene training when beginning work and this training, along with the awareness of the importance of cleanliness, continues throughout their employment with McDonald’s. Managers and staff are also extremely vigilant when food is being prepared.
