1. You must be frustrated that other fastfood joint don't get as much stick as McDonald's? I guess being number one it comes with the job. But why even bother selling salads? It is not what you are about, and besides, I have tasted better cobwebs.
Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the salads. McDonald's menu choice is led entirely by what customers want to buy and eat. And one of the requests that the company has received loud and clear is that there are a number of people who want to have additional choice on the menu. McDonald's is proud of the fact that it is the leading quick service restaurant in the UK and understands that role brings responsibility and sometimes unfair criticism as it is used as the poster boy for the whole category, as you quite rightly surmise. However, the company hopes that by making its processes and business more transparent through initiatives such as this site, some of the misunderstandings about the company's policies, decisions and standards are dispelled over time. 2. Has any of the questions answered on this website had any effect or made any difference on how McDonalds runs it's business? Has anything said here changed anything you do on a daily basis or had a positive effect?
McDonald's is a customer focused business and so it listens to and values feedback from customers. Many ideas have been taken on board and can now be seen in the restaurants. For example, the company recognises the wide concerns with healthier lifestyles, and has attempted to introduce a wider variety of menu choices that cater to all diets, such as Fruit Bags, Carrot Sticks, Organic Milk and Salads. As well as this, McDonald's provides detailed nutritional content information on all its food items. While it isn’t always possible to cater for all, McDonald’s has received good feedback from its customers in regards to the new menu additions. The company has also taken on board a call for Halal options, more vegetarian choices and less salt in food and you can see these changes being trialled across the UK. (September 2007)

3. How do you account for the amount of games such as mcvideogame.com and songs and other such media that shows mcdonalds foods in a negative light? do they really use things as shown in these mcdonalds parodys? how about supersize me, how do you explain the negative effects on someones health such as in that?
McDonald’s is a clear leader in the fast food market and as such, the company tends to get the majority of both praise and criticism. Where it is unfair or negative, the company takes the opportunity to address the issues head on and this website is a good example of this. Many commentators seek to use the McDonald’s brand and international presence to support various positions and theories that they wish to put forward. You may be surprised to hear that McDonald’s agrees with the central premise of the film ‘Super Size Me’; that eating too much food and doing too little exercise is not good for you. However, as the average McDonald’s customer visits a restaurant two or three times a month, the company believes its customers here in the UK recognise that film is an example of an extreme diet.

10. Mcdonalds has a very poor reputation in schools and with youth workers in the UK, infact I belive you would struggle to find a supportive youth worker, how do you hope to change the attitudes of the workers?
McDonald’s recently embarked on a campaign to bridge the perception gap that exists with some people in how they view a job at McDonald’s - the company believes that there is sometimes a lag between perception and reality as borne out by a number of recent pieces of research. The company hopes that people will take the time to find out more about jobs in McDonald’s and how they benefit young people, as either their first job or while they are studying. However, only by listening and responding to the concerns of important groups such as youth workers can the company ensure that it is doing everything possible to meet expectations. One route for concerned individuals to ask the company about concerns they might have is via this website, but schools and youth workers are always welcome to talk directly with local managers.

11. Why do you continue to call your outlets 'restaurants' rather than cafes which they are, and poor ones at that? I have actually been to your cafes on 3 occasions, the last time was a year ago near Manchester, I only agreed as I was with company and the others wanted to stop. I had a so called Big Breakfast, which consisted of Scrambled egg, some sort of square shaped 'meat', and a hash brown. It was appalling, Where you get the Big from is obviously a matter of opinion, Never again!
McDonald’s uses the term restaurants to describe its outlets based on the fact that they are premises where food can be bought and consumed. The company is sorry to hear that you have not had the best of experiences and would be grateful if you would contact its Customer Services Team on 08705 244 622 so that the issues can be investigated fully. The Big Breakfast is a popular menu item but there is a variety of choice at breakfast time including: bagels, porridge, the Pancakes and Syrup and of course the Bacon and Egg McMuffin and the Sausage and Egg McMuffin.

13. Sorry to be emailing you again and again! But i kind of figured out this was for McDonalds! I know it must be hard to put yourself out there ( i mean the resteraunt ) when its got so much reputation. I know your trying to make it all healthier and what not but would it be easier to shut it down and make a different food place? I dont just have it out for McDonalds i also dislike (alot) KFC and burger king. Vegetarianism does come into this as well. But i also know that in every other fast food resteraunt there will be a non vegetarian food item. I'm sorry but its just a natural hate. Like when my friends say they've eaten at McDonalds my jaw drops. I dont doubt you are very hygenic but have you ever seen super size me? I will never eat at McDonalds and i know fair enough. My choice. But i really cant stand it when everywhere i look theres a McDonalds and poor people have been sucked into McDonald's Menu. All of those people might i say are usually obese. P.S. I am 11 years old.
McDonald’s appreciates that everyone has the right to their own opinion. Perhaps you would like to see the other side of the story and take a tour of your local restaurant’s kitchens? That would at least show how high the standards of hygiene are at McDonald’s. You may also want to follow the progress of the Quality Scouts on this web site. They’re members of the public who are investigating ‘behind the scenes’ at McDonald’s on your behalf.

15. Dear Sir/Madam, I would like to know what is the current brand image that consumers hold of McDonalds .. Has there been a change in perception? Awaiting your reply... Thanks and regards.. Pavan K
Perceptions of brands are personal opinions and for this reason your question is difficult to answer. Customers’ perceptions change all the time and can swing between positive and not so positive views, depending on their opinions.
