- 46. why is it, that when we purchase fries from Mcdonalds, we dont get given salt sachets??? This is so annoying to find you havent any when you have driven away. salt is alledgedly not good for us, but please let us have the freedom of choice. KFC automatically place them in your order, so please, can we have salt??
-
McDonald’s does still salt the French Fries but it has reduced the amount of salt recently due to changing consumer demands. However, if you would like extra salt for your fries, just ask the crew member who is serving you and they will be happy to supply you with some sachets.

-
McDonald's French Fries are cooked in vegetable oil and have been for many, many years. Recently, McDonald’s has changed its oil. The new oil, a blend of sunflower and rapeseed, has been carefully developed to ensure it does not raise saturated fat content. This GM-free cooking oil also reduces the levels of Trans Fatty Acids (TFAs) to their lowest possible levels, without a change to the taste. You may also like to know that McDonald's fries are currently in the process of being accredited by the Vegetarian Society. Rest assured that McDonald’s UK has never used lard to cook any of its food.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 49. Is it true your fries are made only from potato powder? Thats why they all look the same Plus can we have a bigger vege choice?
-
No, this isn’t true. It takes a particular type of potato to make a McDonald’s French fry, and in the UK McDonald’s uses Russett Burbank, Shepody and Pentland Dell. That’s because they all grow well here and also provide consistently long fries. McDonald’s is constantly reviewing the menu and specifically the vegetarian options. The Grilled Veggie Toasted Deli Sandwich has proved a big hit recently and the Veggie Deluxe has been reintroduced recently due to popular demand. Any suggestions should be put to the Customer Services Team by visiting the ‘Contact Us’ section at www.mcdonalds.co.uk.

-
The answer is no in both cases. Firstly McDonald's UK uses Russet Burbank, Pentland Dell and Shepody potatoes in their French Fries. The Fries are cooked in vegetable oil and so are suitable for vegetarians, and have been approved by the Vegetarian Society. And none of the food served at McDonald’s contains any monosodium glutamate (MSG).

-
No.The salt that McDonald's puts on its French Fries is only used to make them taste great. In fact, in 2004 McDonald's reduced the salt in the fries by 25 percent. McDonald's is currently trialing unsalted French Fries in some restaurants. Whether this rolls out across all restaurants will depend on customer feedback.

-
The beef patties in McDonald’s hamburgers are cooked, without added fat or oil, between hot plates that cook the patties from both sides - a similar cooking process to the grilling machines that are sold in a variety of kitchenware stores. The French Fries are cooked in vegetable oil using dedicated fryers.

No. The French Fries are lightly salted after cooking to make them taste good, and for no other reason. If you'd prefer your Fries unsalted, just ask at the counter and the staff can make you up a portion without.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 54. Is it true that to make your fries golden brown they have a sugar coating ? If so why is this not made clear to diabetics ?
-
There is a very short period at the beginning of the potato season when young potatoes do not have enough natural sugars of their own to brown properly. During this period McDonald's will lightly coat the Fries with dextrose, a natural wheat-based sugar, to help them brown. McDonald's ensures that nutritional information for the French Fries, and all other food items, is online at www.mcdonaldsmenu.info and on the back of the tray liners in restaurants. The sugar content, for example, for a portion of medium fries is 1g per portion, which would be typical for fries even with added dextrose.
