31. In previous adverts you have stated that your products now contain 100% of an ingredient i.e our burgers are now 100% beef and our chicken nuggets are now 100% chicken. Surely this should have always been the case, what did they used to contain??
McDonald’s Hamburgers have always been made from 100 per cent beef and nothing else, and have always been advertised as so. In regard to McDonald’s chicken based products, there have been changes. Previously, chicken products were made from 100 per cent chicken. However, they were made from whole cuts of light meat, dark meat, and skin, in the natural proportions of a whole chicken. Feedback from customers revealed that they only wanted breast meat used in the chicken products. McDonald’s gladly changed its recipe, and now the meat in its chicken products is white breast meat only. (August 2007)

32. I have read in a news paper that your McNuggets only consist of fat and chicken penis. Because that is the purest meat. I was wondering if this was true and if so could you explain why it is purer. Thank you. Jake W, FHM
No, this is not true. McDonald's Chicken McNuggets are made from carefully deboned chicken breast meat, which is coated in a specially seasoned batter. The full ingredients list for the Chicken McNuggets is available in the 'Our Food' booklet, which is available for download in the 'Eat Smart' section of www.mcdonalds.co.uk, under 'Ingredients list'. 33. A few things. I've heard that Mcdonald's Mcnuggets are infact not all chicken, if so is this why they arn't called Chicken Nuggets? I also heard that soft serve ice cream is made with pig fat.Is it true? And one more, to prove that you're human, when you answer this, type Thanks Tommy in the end.
McDonald's is often surprised at the myths surrounding the ingredients in its food. The Chicken McNuggets are made from carefully deboned chicken breast meat, which is coated in a specially seasoned batter. There is no pig fat in the ice-cream. It’s made from: Skimmed Milk, Cream, Sugar, Whey Powder, Glucose Syrup, Stabilisers, Flavouring, Dextrose. You can find full details of all McDonald's ingredients online in the 'Ingredients List' which is in the 'Eat Smart' section of www.mcdonalds.co.uk. In addition, there is a comprehensive list of nutritional and allergen information available at www.mcdonaldsmenu.info. Hope this helps, and thank you for your questions. (September 2007)

34. This is a question about how the nuggets were made PREVIOUSLY . Were the different parts (skin, brown meat etc) emulsifed together, then shaped? Did they have any chemicals added to them? How was the meat taken off the carcass? What is brown meat? I ask this because i was under the assumption the nuggets were white meat only from the very start.
As you have mentioned, the Chicken McNuggets were made from dark and white meat. The dark meat consisted of the thighs, skin and drumstick as well as the breast, the same composition as if you were to have a roast chicken for a meal at home. However, after extensive research and feedback from customers, it was clear that they only wanted 100 percent breast meat in the nuggets, and McDonald's have been doing so since. The nuggets have always been prepared in the same way. The meat is carefully cut away from the carcass, marinated, minced and formed into their distinctive nugget shapes. They are then coated in a specially seasoned batter and gently cooked until golden. Nothing is added to them or taken away. A full ingredients list for all McDonald’s food items can be found in the 'Ingredient List' which is in the 'Eat Smart' section at www.mcdonalds.co.uk. (November 2007)

37. do u use the meat that other shops dont wont like penises for your nuggets
No. McDonald's Chicken McNuggets are made from 100 percent chicken breast meat from poultry that are reared on farms that are required to meet McDonald's Agricultural Assurance standards. Approved suppliers must have a fully integrated supply chain to ensure full control over all aspects of McDonald's chicken farming standards, including feed and animal welfare. Still not convinced? Then check out the report of Charlotte Haile, an independent Quality Scout who had access to a supplier of McDonald's nuggets and reported back on all her findings. You can see and hear about her visit by clicking the 'Watch their Reports' link on this site. (November 2007)

38. Does the coating on the children's McChicken Nuggets contain milk? My daugher is diary intolerent and loves them, but I could not find out whether any milk went into their production from your website.

39. On your website, you state that that "Chicken McNuggets [are] made out of 100% breast meat" but on your recipe list it states that they contain 45% chicken. I appreciate the difference, but only after reading carefully. Isn't this deliberately misleading?
It's not meant to be misleading. All of the meat used in all of McDonald's chicken products is 100 per cent breast meat. However, as a percentage of the total recipe when the batter, seasoning and stock are taken into account, chicken meat constitutes 45 per cent of the total Chicken McNugget, the other ingredients accounting for the additional 55 per cent. 40. Everybody knows that your chicken nuggets are not 100% chicken MEAT like you say, 'carefully deboned', they are simply 100% chicken, the leftovers, skin and other nasty bits we haven't been able to find out yet. To be honest the reason why 50% of America's population is obese is because of you. With today's high quality of nutrition surely you should be able to change your recipes to get more healthy meals served to the public?
This may come as a surprise, but there are no nasty bits in the Chicken McNuggets. The only meat used in the nuggets is chicken breast meat. Once made, they're then coated with a specially seasoned batter. Don't want to take McDonald's word for it? Then take a look at the Quality Scout reports on this website. Charlotte Haile applied to become an independent Quality Scout so she could see for herself what exactly goes on behind the barnyard doors. Charlotte has recently completed a report on the supplier of McDonald's nuggets and you can view it on this site. There are also reports, interviews and findings from other scouts that look at different areas of McDonald's food suppliers. It is a little harsh to say that McDonald's is responsible for 50 per cent of obesity problems in the United States. Fundamentally, McDonald's is a business. There is a demand for fast food that McDonald's is proud to supply. However, this should not suggest that McDonald's is unaware or insensitive to the growing attention raised by lifestyle choices. In fact, McDonald's embraces and encourages it, and the Make Up Your Own Mind website is an example of this. Feedback and observation is the catalyst to a truly positive transition at McDonald's, changes that run throughout the company. There have been changes to recipes such as the Strawberry Milkshake and the chicken products. Major reductions in Trans Fats, McDonald's have reduced to level of Trans Fats from 30 per cent down to two per cent. Nuggets have had their salt reduced by 30 per cent, fries 24 per cent, buns 20 per cent and mayonnaise by 75 per cent. There have also been changes to the menu. Toasted Deli Sandwiches, Salads, Carrot Sticks, Fruit Bags, bottled Vittel Still Mineral Water, Tropicana Orange Juice and semi skimmed Organic Milk, plus there is nutritional information available in restaurants on the reverse of tray liners and comprehensively on line at www.mcdonaldsmenu.info to help customers make better informed decisions about what they eat. So as you can see, McDonald's is committed about good food, good choice and good lifestyle. (September 2007)
