What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 17. I was just wondering what the generic washing up procedures for cooking equipment and appliances is?
-
The kitchen and equipment is cleaned before any food preparation begins. There is a 'clean as you go' system in operation, which means that cleaning is continuous throughout the day. When the restaurant closes at night and the equipment is turned off, a more detailed cleaning procedure is undertaken. In a 24 hour restaurant, the more detailed clean happens at the quietest time of night. The general procedure is to wash with hot water and detergent, then to rinse with hot water, then to disinfect and finally allow air-drying. Disinfectants are used for both the ongoing cleaning and the detailed cleaning. These procedures ensure that all McDonald's kitchens meet the high standards of cleanliness set by McDonald's and UK food industry standards.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 18. what are you doing about the cryptospoidium outbreak in galway, ireland. the water is poisoned but you're till putting it in your soft drinks. the water has poo in it like your hamburgers(or so i heard) and is unfit for drinking.
-
Cryptosporidium is a protozoa which can be removed from water either by filtration or boiling. The drinks system used in McDonald's restaurants for soft drinks filters out this organism and the water for hot drinks removes it through the boiling process. In answer to the last part of your question, you will not find anything but 100 percent beef in McDonald’s burger patties.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 19. Is it really a floor, or is it more of a steel grating that allows material to sluice through so it can be collected and exported?
-
No, this is not the case. In all McDonald's restaurants there is a ‘clean-as-you-go’ procedure where floors are cleaned throughout the day as required. There is also a more detailed cleaning procedure once the restaurant is closed where chairs from the dining area are removed so that the floor in the dining area can be cleaned more thoroughly. If you feel the restaurant you visited wasn't clean as it should be please talk to the restaurant manager or call Customer Services on 08705 244622. (July 2007)

Maintaining hygiene and cleanliness in McDonald’s restaurants is a top priority. Dining tables are sanitised and wiped throughout the day using a ‘Clean As You Go’ principle. A more detailed clean of the restaurants and kitchens take place every night, while other areas like walls or ceilings are cleaned weekly or monthly.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 24. Is it true that if the ice machines aren't cleaned properly, you can get legionaires disease from them?
-
It is extremely unlikely. Legionella needs warm conditions and stagnant or slow moving water to multiply to harmful levels. This water would then have to be sprayed into the air to potentially cause legionnaires' disease. None of these conditions is associated with ice machines. McDonald’s has stringent cleaning procedures in place for all ice machines in the restaurants.

-
Lots of restaurants or places where food is prepared emit cooking smells when you walk past. Some people regard these smells as pleasant whereas others find them to be unpleasant. McDonald’s has a system of filters in place to reduce this occurring but if you think that this is a particular issue with a specific restaurant please talk to the restaurant manager about this.

McDonald’s is sorry to hear about your experience in a particular restaurant. The company has strict standards of hygiene and appearance for staff. In fact, all McDonald’s restaurant staff are trained on food safety and hygiene when they start working for the company, and the importance of hygiene around food preparation continues throughout their employment. You did the right thing by letting the restaurant manager know about your complaint, and the company is sorry to lose you as a customer.

This should never happen. McDonald’s staff are given thorough training in food and restaurant hygiene. Separate colour coded hygiene equipment is used to avoid confusion.
