The salad leaves are pre-packed in bags and bought in to use as a base for the salads. Depending on the salad you choose from the menu the cheese, bacon, tomatoes, chicken or other ingredients are added in the McDonald's kitchen to make up each individual salad. As a result, each salad is freshly prepared.

It depends on the type of salad you order as McDonald’s have two tasty chicken salads on its menu. There is a Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad that has tender grilled chicken breast pieces, or there is the Crispy Chicken Caesar version which has succulent chicken breast pieces lightly coated in a seasoned batter. What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 3. I have been told by a friend who works for McDonalds that the salad ingredients supplied by Del-Monte are soaked in sugared water to make them sweeter. Can you please tell me why this is done?

This is not true. McDonald's salads are washed and rinsed in clean running water several times to remove any traces soil. To add additional cleanliness to the water, a natural fruit extract is added. Low levels of chlorine have been used in the past but not anymore.

If you're ordering a Crispy Chicken Salad or a Chicken Caesar Salad then the chicken will obviously be warm and this might have a knock on effect on the rest of the salad – as you would expect if you order a Chicken Caesar salad in a restaurant or made it at home. However, those salads that don’t have warm chicken added should not be warm and if you feel this is the case, please point this out to the restaurant manager at the time of ordering. None of the salads include gherkins either as a standard ingredient. (McDonald's burgers do contain gherkins as this is part of the signature taste that so many customers enjoy.)

When the salad ingredients are sourced in season from the UK, it takes three days to get to a McDonald’s restaurant and ready to serve. In the winter months, when the salads and lettuce come from Spain, it takes five days.

No. Salads for McDonald’s are washed and rinsed in running water several times to ensure any traces of soil are removed. To make sure this water is clean, it is treated with a small amount of natural fruit extract. Low levels of chlorine were used in the past, but not any more.
