49. I was most disappointed not to be served at a Drive-Through window when on a pedal bicycle. Is this a result of company-wide policy or decided on a store-by-store basis? Would you consider encouraging cycling by establishing company-wide best practice that cyclists at Drive-Through windows should be served?
The drive-thru facility is designed for motor vehicles and the refusal to serve you was undoubtedly founded on concerns for your personal safety. This is a company-wide policy based on the relevant clauses in the Highway Code as well as conversations between the McDonald's Hygiene and Safety department and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). The company absolutely supports the health and environmental benefits of cycling and wants you to enjoy its restaurants in safety; the majority of drive-thrus have facilities for cyclists to park up their bikes so perhaps this is one option to consider next time you fancy some McDonald's food? 51. Nice website. Can I ask what happened to the lifesize Ronald McDonald that used to stand in the Macclesfield branch. He used to display baloons, but he went missing when the store had a refit.
The Ronald McDonald stand was removed from the branch in Macclesfield when the store was re-furbished. He won't have been consigned to the back of warehouse though - he's been used to decorate another store. (June 2007)

54. What regulations do you have concerning first aid at your restaurants? How many of your staff are trained in first aid? How many would know what to do in the even of someone choking, getting burned, or collapsing? Do you have any defibrilators in your restaurants?
All Shift Managers in McDonald's are required to complete an approved 'First Aid at Work' training course as part of their management training, followed by refresher courses every three years. This ensures that there is at least one trained first aider on duty at all times in every McDonald's restaurant throughout the UK. This means that McDonald's has approximately 6000 trained first aiders. Each of these individuals are trained to provide first aid treatment for a wide range of injuries and illnesses. The company checks the provision of first aid equipment and the training of its first aiders as part of the regular health and safety checks completed on every McDonald's restaurant but this does not include the provision of defibrillators. 56. Don't you think that having condom machines in the toilets is encouraging children to have promiscuous sex? I am disgusted that a company that claims to be family friendly would be so disgusting and will not set foot in any of your stores until this abominations are taken out and burned in the streets.
McDonald's UK, as you might be aware, is split into company-owned restaurants and those owned by franchisees. In the former, the company can categorically state that no condom machines will be found in any of its toilets. If there is a condom machine in your local restaurant, then the company suggests that you let your feelings be known to the franchisee of that particular store who will undoubtedly take your views into consideration. If this doesn't prove satisfactory, the company suggests that you contact the Customer Services team on 08705 244622 and they will investigate the matter fully on your behalf and report back on the outcome. 58. Have you considered installing unisex toilets in your restaurants? I think it would save a lot of space instead of duplicating the same facilities twice. It would also be good for the environment.
McDonald's already has a number of restaurants that have unisex toilet facilities. These are mainly in city centre locations where there are a high number of customers visiting. You can find McDonald's restaurants with these facilities installed at Glasgow (Argyle Street), Birmingham (Stephenson Place) and Blackpool. (July 2007)
