- 1. The film Supersize me has been viewed across the world, including the UK. After the documentary went public, McDonald's US stopped the supersize option, clearly because of the film. Do these films scare you because they have such an influence on the public? I dont believe that the UK took this option off the menu because it wasn't popular, I think it was because of the film. Am i right? or am I wrong?

This specific film had no influence whatsoever in the decision to remove the supersize option from the McDonald's UK menu. In fact, McDonald's had been phasing out the supersize option in the UK 18 months prior to the film.

I appreciate they apparently accounted for very little sales but for a company who claims to offer complete choice etc.. to their customers i feel it unfair to decrease the size of their meals, a large meal just isnt satisfying enough for a lot of customers.

McDonald's stopped offering Super Size meals when the demand in the UK also stopped. There are no plans to re-introduce this portion size. (June 2007)

Surely the default assumption should be that the customer wants the regular meal unless he specified otherwise?

McDonald’s aims to provide customers with what they want. The menu offers three portion sizes of drinks and French Fries, small, medium and large. If a customer specifies which size they want they will be served that. If not, they’ll be offered a choice.
