1. I am a veggie, so my only option is the fat laden veggie deli or the boring fillet-o-fish now that your yummy quorn burger is no more. The fillet-o-fish comes with no salad at all, and when I asked for some tomato and lettuce (not unreasonable) I was charged an extra 60p for 1 slice of tomato and a few limp strands of lettuce. I took photos on my mobile phone, I was so shocked. Happy to forward them to you if you like.
Thank you for your question and we’re sorry that you feel unhappy with the current vegetarian menu options. As you mention a Quorn Burger was introduced to our menu, but it didn’t prove very popular and was removed. As a company, McDonald’s encourage staff to show flexibility towards our customer’s special requests. However, grill orders such as yours are not standard menu items and are usually offered to customers at the discretion of the individual restaurant management teams. However, as you mentioned your order is not a standard menu item and as such there is no till functionality for it so you will be charged the full price of the standard menu item. However as you mention getting charged extra, it is likely that the restaurant you are using is a franchise, and McDonald’s do not have control over the franchisees pricing policy. (Jan 2010)

2. I got approved time off in mctime on the 7th for the 17th to have off. My manager then approved to it the same day. Then my manager did the schedule, but accidentally booked me into a shift that day. I saw I was booked in the schedule, but thought it was just a mistake. I got a caution notice for "no-showing" that shift. The manage refuses to remove it. Is this right?

6. Hi, I was browsing the McDonald's USA and UK webpage’s for french fires ingredients, I noticed that the USA fries contain "natural beef flavor", whereas UK fries do not. Could you please confirm that USA french fries are not suitable for vegetarians and UK fries are, if this is not the case, would you please kindly inform me with the correct information.
Make Up Your Own Mind has been set up specifically to answer questions about McDonald's within the UK so it is hard for us to answer specific questions about other markets. The French Fries sold in McDonald's UK are suitable for vegetarians and have been approved by The Vegetarian Society. The Fries are cooked in a non-hydrogenated blend of rapeseed and sunflower oil. This has been carefully developed to ensure it does not raise saturated fat content. This GM-free cooking oil also reduces the levels of Trans Fatty Acids (TFAs) to their lowest possible levels, without a change to the taste. (Jan 2010)

10. Why the hell would you put gherkin's in your burgers?
The majority of customers enjoy the burgers as they are and the gherkin is one of the special ingredients that make a McDonald's burger unique. There has always been a great debate around whether McDonald's burgers taste better with or without the gherkins. Some people love them, others don't, and that's OK. However, if you would like a burger without a gherkin, please request this when you order. (Jan 2010)

11. How much of your food is recyceled?
McDonald’s takes its environmental responsibility very seriously and recycles approximately a quarter of all waste produced at most restaurants through the separation of cardboard and used cooking oil. Specifically, McDonald's is committed to running its entire UK fleet on 100 per cent bio-diesel, made from recycled cooking oil from restaurants, combined with a limited amount of rapeseed oil. The carbon saving of the move will be 1,675 tonnes annually when the national rollout is completed - the equivalent of removing 2,424 family cars from the road each year. The problem, which McDonald’s face is that much of the waste produce in the restaurants, is ‘food-contaminated’, providing a challenge in discovering an appropriate method in terms of recycling. McDonald’s is running permanent pilots where 11 restaurants send their waste to an energy from waste facility that generates energy to be used for heating and powering local buildings. This project was so successful for food-contaminated waste that McDonald’s are now looking to expand this project to other parts of the country where the facilities exist. (Jan 2010)

12. Would you consider sub contracting out the delivery service for my local restaurant?
Unfortunately McDonald’s UK would not support such a service. This is due to a number of factors, including not being able to guarantee the quality of the products once they had left the McDonald’s restaurant, and in particular the temperature of the food. A delivery service has been trialled and considered before, however McDonald’s UK feel that it is unable to meet a high quality commitment to deliver hot, freshly prepared food every time to off-site locations. Thank you for your question. McDonald’s has strict standards of hygiene and appearance for staff. The rule regarding hats and hairnets is that all staff who handles food should wear hats, and where the hair cannot be controlled sufficiently by the hat, should wear hairnets too. (Jan 2010)

15. Who is your arch rival restaurant?
Thank you for your question. McDonald’s does not think it appropriate to comment directly on its competitors. However it is certainly true that the company operates in a competitive market and has numerous competitors in the catering sector ranging from fast food restaurants to traditional fish and chip shops.
