Thanks for your question. No it is not compulsory. However, most McDonald’s restaurants undertake fundraising efforts either for local charities or Ronald McDonald House Charities each year. (February 2011)

My manager says I am not allowed to wear a long-sleeved black t-shirt underneath my uniform because me wearing it is not for religious reasons. Is he allowed to demand that I do not wear it when he provides exemption for Muslims etc? Thank you.

Thanks for your question. The crew uniform is a short sleeved polo-top which is provided for you. No long sleeved garments are permitted to be worn underneath unless it is for religious reasons. (February 2011)

Thank you for your question. The beef patty is made using 100% British and Irish beef, supplied by our beef patty supplier in Scunthorpe. The bun used is baked by one of our bakery product suppliers in Heywood near Manchester or Banbury, Oxfordshire. The mustard is made by one of our sauce suppliers in Lancashire, whilst the Heinz ketchup is made in Belgium, and the cheese slice is made by a supplier in Coleraine, Northern Ireland. The dill pickles are sourced from Turkey and the onions are from the Netherlands.

Thanks for your question. We are glad to hear you enjoy our Cream Egg McFlurry so much! This is always launched in conjunction with the Easter period, running for a couple of weeks before and after. To have this as a permanent item would defeat our objective of having a seasonal item. (February 2011)

However please can you let me know, in the following products: Vegiburger, Veg Delhi, Fillit-O-Fish, Fries, Milkshake, and McFlurry have any contact with animal meat. I follow a strict diet whereby I can have dairy product (i.e. milk) but it can have no animal products in it. Please can you let me know if the mentioned products have any animal product in them and also can you provide a list of all ingredients in the products. Thanks

Thanks for your question. We are glad to hear you enjoy McDonald’s food so much! All of our products are cooked separately; beef patties are cooked on a griddle and our Filet-o-Fish, Apple Pies, Chicken products and vegetable patty are cooked in 100% vegetable oil using dedicated cooking vats. These vats are exclusively for the purpose of cooking a specific product and that product alone. However, due to the design of the oil filtration system there is a small chance the 100% vegetable oil used to cook each product can come in contact with oil used to cook chicken and fish products during the oil filtering process. McDonald’s can assure you that whilst every possible precaution is taken in order to prevent cross contamination during this filtering process, we cannot guarantee this will not occur. McDonald’s French Fries are cooked in 100% vegetable oil using different equipment and are entirely segregated from the other products; therefore they are suitable for vegetarians and have been approved by the Vegetarian Society. The Crunchie and Dairy Milk McFlurry desserts are suitable for vegetarians. The Smartie McFlurry is not suitable. Although the ice cream contains no ingredients of animal origin the Smarties contain whey powder which the supplier cannot guarantee is free from animal rennet. McDonald’s Milkshakes are suitable for vegetarians and have been approved by the Vegetarian Society. The vegetarian status of all our standard menu items can be found on the reverse of the trayliner in the restaurants. Thank you for your question. McDonald’s does not think it appropriate to comment directly on its competitors. However it is certainly true that the company operates in a competitive market and has numerous competitors in the catering sector ranging from fast food restaurants to traditional fish and chip shops. Thanks for your question. You do need to be of school leaving age - we have a way of you checking this when you first begin our application form. Some people are able to start work at 15 years old but it does depend when their birthday falls.
