Thank you for your enthusiasm. This year McDonald’s has been concentrating on re-imaging existing restaurants rather than building new ones and 80 stores have been redeveloped. However plans for the future are to continue to open more restaurants. Along with many other potential sites McDonald’s will look at Driffield as a possible opportunity to build a new restaurant.

9348. Is this not just a way of extending your propaganda machine? How come there is no forum in which we can actively debate with you? Is just answering the "most popular questions" without letting us see what questions are actually asked not just another way of letting you filter the debate? How come there is no opportunity for your oponents to rebutt the answers to their questions? Is there any point in me asking these questions or is this debate limited to the questions you want to answer? I'm waiting.
McDonald’s intends to host webchats and online debates on this site to try and provide more ways for members of the public to talk directly to McDonald’s, and to raise and debate issues. The objective of this website is much more than a simple PR exercise – its aim is to provide answers to genuine concerns and misconceptions that customers might have about McDonald’s, and to air any issues that the general public have regarding the company. All answers are considered on an individual basis and written to be as candid and succinct as possible. If you see any questions that you feel are answered unsatisfactorily, please let McDonald’s know via this website and they will be reviewed accordingly.

9349. 100% Beef is used in your burgers with no additives what about the source of your supplier are the cattle all fed non GM also what about the cattles diet is it full of chemicals before slaughter, is the poor animal injected with God knows what growth hormone or some other treatmeant, Natural is best what ever you say I'm still suspicicious of what happens to the food before it even becomes food with the alarming rate of pesticides being used the food is slowly becomming toxic in unoticeable ways, can you give assurances that natural is your priority and I would say honesty in this area is a an absolute priority also when and if you declare this people will be watching for the subtlest evidence that you are not. be it on your own heads for the survival of your company
No chemicals are fed to the cattle prior to slaughter, and antibiotic growth promoters or hormones are also strictly forbidden by the requirements of McDonald’s Agriculture Assurance Programme (MAAP). McDonald’s UK beef cattle are fed on a diet of grass, root crops and cereals. Occasionally young cattle may be fed a feed ration which may have a small amount of soya included to provide protein. This soya may come from GM crops grown in the USA or South America, depending on the harvest and availability. Please note that McDonald’s takes steps to make sure that it does not source from recently deforested areas. In the case of poultry, McDonald’s can confirm no birds are fed with such a feed. Please bear in mind that because the animals may be fed on GM soya, it doesn't mean that their derived meat and milk are genetically modified. The use of pesticides conforms to EU legislation and growers are required to use the minimum levels necessary to control any crop-threatening pests.

9351. Why was Root beer removed from your menu?
McDonald’s stopped selling root beer some time ago as this wasn’t popular enough with UK customers to keep on the menu. However new drinks which have proved popular such as Tropicana orange juice and semi-skimmed organic milk have been added to the menu to give customers more choice and variety.

9353. Why does mcdonalds knowingly buy chickens from sun valley food, which are feed on soya fodder grown at the expense of the amazon rain forest?
Greenpeace recently raised concerns that some soya meal being used by a broad range of food businesses is being sourced from areas that have been illegally cleared in the Brazilian rainforest. As a company McDonald’s takes steps to make sure that we do not source from recently deforested areas. What’s more, after discussions with McDonald’s, Greenpeace and other NGOs, the Brazilian Association of Vegetable Oil Industries and the National Association of Grain Exporters and their members have agreed not to trade soya from deforested areas within the Amazon as of October 2006.

9355. Why is it Mcdonald's as well as KFC are permitted to advertise themselves on hoardings at the side of the motorway usually at upcoming junctions or service stations? Whilst the vast majority of other businesses apart from parks, garden, national parks and theme parks are not allowed? These signs are found as part of Highways Agency signs and i wondered how Mcdonald's and KFC were granted permission to use these Agency road information hoardings to promote their brand?
McDonald's does not advertise on hoardings for motorway service stations. However, McDonald’s does appear on a limited number of service station signs – signage which has been approved by the appropriate authority – to signify the presence of a McDonald’s in those particular services.

9356. Your slogan is evil.I'm lovin it.It is based to brain wash little people. And you just stole it from a song.Thats not very original. Shouldn't this be stopped?
'i'm lovin' it' has been the slogan for McDonald's global marketing programmes since 2003. It was created to express two things: the experience enjoyed by people at McDonald's, plus the company's global brand essence of 'Forever Young'. The line was written by a McDonald's advertising agency and the jingle was then composed to bring the line to life.

9357. This isn't a question more a statement, you do build your restaurants near schools, in fact there is a restaurant not even five minutes walk away from 3 schools in Upminster, Essex!
McDonald’s does not intentionally build restaurants near schools. Restaurants are located everywhere from shopping centres, to high streets, or on retail parks. Any proximity to a school is purely a co-incidence.

9358. you say you give a straight answer, well you didnt actually answer the question about the hundreds of different cattle used in burgers...is it true?
Like burgers and mince from other large food companies or your local butcher, there might be beef from more than one animal in McDonald's hamburger patties. Let's get this in perspective - there is milk from more than one cow in a carton of milk and juice from more than one orange in a carton of orange juice. The key point here is that all the meat we use is great quality. The company source from over 16,000 British and Irish farms, all producing to the same industry leading standards.
