1. According to your nutritional information, apple pies are not suitable for vegetarians, are your cherry pies also unsuitable?
Thanks for your question. The Cherry and Apple Pies are cooked in dedicated vats using a non hydrogenated blend of rapeseed and sunflower oil (which is suitable for vegetarians). However, due to the design of the oil filtration system there is a small chance the oil used to fry Cherry and Apple Pies can come into contact with oil used to cook chicken and fish products during the oil filtering process. We therefore cannot guarantee cross-contamination will not occur and vegetarians therefore may wish to avoid these pies. (January 2011)

2. Hi. I love the fried apple pies at McDonalds but I just had to ask this. Why are there bubbles on the surface and it also looks a little shiny as well? Thanks.
Thank you for your question. McDonald’s is pleased to hear that you are enjoying the Apple Pies. Once the pies are made they are coated with a glaze which prevents the pies from dehydrating when frozen and gives them that characteristic bubbly appearance when cooked in the restaurant. 3. My wife is 8 months pregnant and her cravings are for a McDonald's fried Apple Pie. Unfortunatly, I believe pies in the States, or at least in Texas where we live, are only baked. How best do I get a fried pie? Ship from the UK?

4. I always wanted to know why the apple pies have a time limit..... If the pie is past this limit it is thrown away. What a waste.
Thank you for your question. McDonald’s UK has a holding time for food to ensure that it remains fresh and hot. The holding time for each product varies depending on the type of food. McDonald's tries to minimise the amount of food waste from its restaurants. The company monitors the amount of food sold at different times throughout each day, and the restaurants use this information to ensure that they only order and prepare the amount of food that is likely to be sold. As a result McDonald's restaurants waste less than one percent of food stock. (June 2009)

5. are mcdonalds apple pies suitable for vegetarians?
The apple pie contains no ingredients of animal origin however we cannot guarantee that the oil used to fry the pies in has not become mixed with oil that has been used to cook chicken products during the oil filtration process in the restaurants. There are two different methods for filtering frying oils employed across McDonald's restaurants: the first utilises self-filtering vats fitted in its kitchens and the oil from each frying station is filtered into a separate container. So French Fry oil goes into one container, with Veggie Patty, Filet-o-Fish, chicken menu items and Apple Pies into another. If the restaurant does not have self filtering vats, the oil is filtered into one container but in a specific order. So the French Fries fryer is filtered first, followed by the Veggie Deluxe fryer, the Apple Pies fryer, the chicken fryer and then the Filet-o-Fish fryer. At the end of the filtering session, the machine is cleaned ready for the next day’s operation. Please speak to the restaurant manager to get further details. (Dec 08)
