1. Are there any e numbers in our soft drinks or any of our products?
Thanks for your question. You can find out the ingredients for all our products by visiting the Food pages of our website www.mcdonalds.co.uk and selecting the Nutrition & Ingredients section. These ingredient declarations have the additives written using their full name rather than just their E number. As an example Coca Cola contains: Carbonated Water, Sugar, Colour (Sulphite Ammonia Caramel), Phosphoric Acid and Flavourings (including Caffeine). The colour is also known as the E number E150d and Phosphoric Acid has the E number E338. (June 2011)

2. hi i would like to know what machines you use for you coffee, tea and hot chocalate as i love the taste and would like to implerment the same equipment in my cafe.
Thank you for your question. McDonald’s is pleased to hear that you enjoy its hot drinks. The great taste of McDonald’s UK freshly ground Full Bean coffee is achieved by using Arabica coffee beans specially selected from sustainable farms certified by the Rainforest Alliance combined with organic semi-skimmed milk sourced from farms in Britain and Ireland. McDonald’s use PG Tips® tea bags when making the McDonald’s tea. At least 50% of the tea in our PG Tips® tea bags comes from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms. Finally, McDonald’s Hot Chocolate is produced using a syrup base opposed to powder. This syrup is specific to McDonalds and is not available to the general public. With regards to the drinks machines, which are used, the majority of McDonald’s UK restaurants use a fresh bean and milk coffee machine manufactured by Thermoplan Thermoplan also manufacture the hot chocolate machine. 3. In your drinks machine, is it just Coca Cola that is served or is it Coca Cola plus syrup? I heard it wasn't natural Coke?
The carbonated soft drinks in the restaurants, such as Coca Cola, are all freshly made to order. The machines contain the constituent ingredients of syrup and carbonated water, which is blended once an order is taken. All the syrups for the carbonated drinks are supplied by Coca Cola including Coke, Diet Coke, Fanta and Sprite. All the drinks machines in McDonald’s are checked every week by the management teams to ensure the highest possible standard of product. The syrup is refilled frequently and the machines are regularly audited by Coca Cola. (Jan 2010)

4. what ingredients are in the syrup that is added to carbonate the drinks in the dispense. if there is any sugar in this syrup then surely you can not trade coke zero as being sugar free which would therefore inflinge trading standard descriptions.
Thank you for your question. All McDonald’s restaurants serve a variety of carbonated drinks including Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite Zero and Fanta. The restaurants all operate a drinks system that keeps each flavour completely separate. Each drink has a sealed line running all the way from the drinks machine to the nozzle of the drinks tower. There is therefore no way that flavours or sugared and non-sugared drinks can be mixed.

6. my friends and i went to McDs to a burger to night and our coke was full up of ice. We poured out the coke into another cup and it wasnt even half! Why do you put so much ice ????
McDonald's apologises for any disappoinment caused. Ice is put into all soft drinks which are served from the fountain. If you prefer to have less ice in your drink, or no ice at all, then just let the staff member serving you know and they will be happy to prepare your drink accordingly. (September 2007)

8. is there any chance you could sell refillable drinks? places like subway and burger king do. also, do you add water to your drinks?
Sorry, but McDonald's currently have no plans to introduce refillable drinks in the immediate future. There are a few exceptions where UK restaurants do offer refillable drinks, but only a few. Regarding your second question, McDonald’s Coca-Cola machines use a syrup which is added to water and then carbonated. If you feel strongly about seeing changes in the menu you could always contact the Customer Services Team by visiting the ‘Contact Us’ section at www.mcdonalds.co.uk. They will be happy to hear your comments and suggestions. (March 09)
