The majority of McDonald’s French Fries are made by McCain’s. Russet Burbank, Pentland Dell and Shepody potatoes are used for their quality, taste and long shape when cut. The fries are cooked in dedicated frying vats in a new non-hydrogenated blend of sunflower and rapeseed oil which is suitable for vegetarians. The new oil has been developed without raising the saturated fat content or altering the taste. There are no animal fats or lards added of any kind, all that is added is a pinch of salt after cooking for taste. There are two different methods employed across McDonald's restaurants: the first utilises self-filtering vats fitted in its kitchens and the oil from each station is filtered into separate containers. So French Fry oil goes into a Fry container, with Filet-o-Fish, chicken menu items and Apple Pies into another container. If the restaurant does not have self filtering vats, the oil is filtered into the same container but in a specific order. So the French Fries fryer is filtered first, followed by the Veggie Deluxe fryer, the Apple Pies fryer, the chicken fryer and then the Filet-o-Fish fryer. After each filtering session, the machine is meticulously cleaned ready for the next day’s operation.

You will be happy to know that the French Fries sold in McDonald's UK are suitable for vegetarians, and have recently been accredited by the Vegetarian Society. You can read more about this by clicking on the 'Vegetarian Fries' link in the 'McDonald's News' section on this site. The Filet-o-Fish does not contain any meat ingredients; however, it is not certified as being suitable for vegetarians due to the oil filtering process in restaurants. Regarding McDonald's Filet-o-Fish, it is prepared using Alaskan Pollock fish, which is sourced from Marine Stewardship Council certified fisheries. Fish Fingers however, will continue to be made from Hoki, also sourced from Marine Stewardship Council certified fisheries.

McDonald's currently uses 100 percent Hoki fish - not cod, which is no longer ecologically sustainable - in the Filet-o-Fish and Fish Fingers. Hoki is an internationally recognised white fish used in prime fish portions. The Hoki fish is sourced from Marine Stewardship Council certified fisheries. At the moment, this comes from the seas around New Zealand.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 8. some of your resturants i specif ask for no tartar sauce or cheese on my fillet of fish i have to take it back several times to get my desired fish which is beautiful when it aventually arrives, but my friends, work collegues have already fininshed there meals and my dinner hour is over, so why not ask the customer weather they want cheese and maybe put a little pot of tarter sauce in the box you provide. thanks
-
The majority of McDonald’s sandwiches are pre-made (though no longer than ten minutes before they are sold) to pre-empt busy periods, especially lunchtime. They will be made to set recipes and, in the case of the Filet-o-Fish, that will include the cheese slice and the tartare sauce. If you ask for a sandwich to be made without cheese or tartare sauce, it might take a little longer to prepare. However, it should be right when it arrives. Sorry to hear that this has not always been the case. If you are ever unhappy with the food or service you receive from any McDonald's restaurant, please let the restaurant manager know or contact the Customer Services team by logging onto www.mcdonalds.co.uk and clicking on the 'Contact Us' link so they can investigate the issue on your behalf.
