Sorry to hear that you feel this way (and sorry for our slow response - unfortunately your question seems to have slipped through, but the team are hard at work trying to answer all your questions). McDonald's does not comment on other companies. However, the company does not agree that its Quarter Pounder burger patty is small. You might be interested to know that it’s the biggest burger on the main menu, weighing in at 113.4g. The thickness of McDonald's beef burgers has remained unchanged for years because that’s how most McDonald's customers like them. However, the Big Tasty and The Big Tasty with Bacon are often return to the menu. These burgers will give any appetite a run for its money. Why not give one a try?

The Quarter Pounder, along with most other McDonald’s burgers, are cooked, without added fat or oil, between hot plates that cook the patties from both sides - a similar cooking process to the grilling machines that are sold in a variety of kitchenware stores. Depending on what is being cooked, the hot plates range in temperature from 177 degrees centigrade to 218 degrees centigrade. McDonald’s operates an assembly line system for preparing its food, an idea that is fundamental to the success of McDonald’s and many fast food restaurants. Therefore, any burgers that need specific attention to ingredients, such as the removal of gherkins or relish will take a little longer to prepare, as they have to be prepared separately. Burgers with all the standard ingredients are already made, or ready more quickly, simply because the majority of customers prefer them this way. But if you feel you have waited too long for a plain burger, please take this up with your local restaurant manager.

There are a number of choices on the menu that don’t contain cheese, such as the McChicken Sandwich or Premier. You can always ask for a Quarter Pounder without cheese, but this may take a little longer to prepare.
