5. Hi, how are you? Your advert with the song on from Disney's Robin Hood. Did you choose that song because it is from a children's film...then when children watch the film they will be reminded of McDonald's and want to go? Or just cos it's a lovely, catchy tune? Take care.
The piece to which you are referring is a rearrangement of a track called ‘Whistle Stop’ which was originally written and performed by Roger Miller for the 1960's Disney film of Robin Hood. There is no sinister reasoning behind the choice of this song for the advertisement. It was simply chosen because it suited the tone of the advert. McDonald's is very much aware that marketing to children is a sensitive issue and the company is careful to talk to children in a responsible way. For the most part, it is parents who make the decisions about the food their children eat and a lot of time is spent considering the opinions of parents in order to create marketing and advertising that conveys positive messages to children about food choices. 8. I had a cheeseburger from your Sandbach branch, the burger was no thicker than a rasher of bacon, there was a cheese slice, with a bit of relish, it was stuck between a small bun, and yet when I see your advert the same burger looks massive. My question is as the man in the advert got very small hands, or is it an attempt to deceive yours still hungry and not loving it, J. Sumner
Sorry to hear you weren’t satisfied with your meal. McDonald’s can assure you that the food in used in the marketing images and adverts are prepared using the same menu ingredients and are made in line with the same specifications that are given to employees in all McDonald's restaurants. They are also the same size. McDonald's always strives to match the photographs and provide you with the food that you see in the quickest time. If you feel, at any time, that the standard of food falls short, please do inform the restaurant manager, or contact our Customer Services team on 08705 244622. The team would be happy to investigate any issues fully on your behalf. (August 2008)

9. hi. this is the second time i've asked this question, i hope you reply this time. you say that complaints about mcdonalds to the advertising standards authority have been upheld; could you give details of this false advertising so everyone can see, please?
In November 2003, the ASA upheld a complaint about a McDonald's magazine advertisement which ran with the heading 'The Story of Our Fries. (End of Story)’. It gave a short summary of the preparation and cooking process for McDonald's fries, the purpose of the advertisement being to reassure customers that real potatoes are used to make McDonald’s French fries. The ASA considered that because of the words 'End of Story’, most people would conclude that the advertisement described the complete process, when in fact it only gave a summary. The fact that McDonald's fries are made from real potatoes was never in question or disputed. The details of all complaints to ASA are constantly in the public domain and can be found at www.asa.org.uk/asa - which holds the adjudications for the past five years.
