16. Hiya How do the Hand Held ordering systems work because I cant see how the Till knows your order and then the third windowand how many staff should work on the drive thru at busy periods
Thank you for your question. The McDonald’s UK hand held order taking device incorporates wireless technology to send each order from the order taking point to the cashier's till. Once taken each order is sent in sequence via aerials on the side of the restaurant building and appears on the till and drive thru monitors at the same time. This means that whilst you are paying for your order the staff in our collection booth are already assembling your meal. With regards to your second question, the number of staff working on a McDonald’s drive thru will vary according to how busy the restaurant is. On a busy day there can be as many as eight staff operating one drive thru lane. (March 2009)

17. Recently me and my friend went into the McDonalds in Moons Mount in Reddich. We only had enough for a single McFlurry. We asked about having two straws so we could share, but were flatly refused because we were told that if you eat in, you aren't allowed to share. What's wrong with two girls and one cup?

18. Please give me an address to right a complaint to I cannot afford a premium rate line to make a complaint about you. It is very unethical and maybe illegal not to have an address for complaints to be sent.

19. Has anyone eating in a McDonalds ever been asked for a retainer for a childs high chair, I was in Inca Majorca and was asked for 50 euros or my passport as guarantee to return same. I was with my family which included g/children did they think I was going to run across car park with the chair under my coat. Come on McDonalds get this sorted in your family friendly restaurants!

22. How does the company use information technology?
Firstly apologies for the delay in answering your question, the team has been very busy with all the questions that are pouring in and everybody is working hard to answer them all. Technology is used throughout the company in many ways to help McDonald’s perform at a consistently high level. From Service tills, to stock control, training, research, administration and office work, business would be a lot more difficult to conduct without the use of computers and the rapid advances being made to improve business throughout all areas. 23. I was wondering why none of your staff ever smile? That and every time I order something that isn't ready I just get glared at. Why is this? I am vegetarian and as you have VERY limited options for vegetarians I have no choice but to order things that are not prepared! Plus I heard a rumor that your milkshakes contain chicken fat from cooking the McNuggets - is this true??!!
McDonald’s is sorry to hear your experiences with the staff. McDonald’s feels that staff attitude is important in a customer services environment, and takes pride in having excellent employees. For over a year and a half the ‘Hire the Smile’ employee recruitment programme has been in place which involves two interviews for each job candidate, and an on-job assessment that looks at staff attitude and customer service skills. On this occasion it seems that you haven’t experienced the great service that you come to expect from McDonald’s. In the unlikely event this happens again please either talk to the restaurant manager or call Customer Services on 08705 244622 so that this can be fully investigated. With regards to vegetarian options, McDonald's works hard to accommodate them all its customers as best as it possibly can, including vegetarians. Currently, McDonald’s believes it offers a good variety of food items that are suitable for vegetarians, including the French Fries, Vegetable Deluxe burger (where available), the Toasted Deli Spicy Veggie Sandwich and the Garden Side Salad and the Milkshakes. There are also snack options such as the Fruit Bag and Carrot Sticks. However the company recognises there is always room for improvement and in view of this suggests you should get in touch with the Customer Services Team to log your enthusiasm for more vegetarian options using the aforementioned contact details.
