Thank you for your question. The UK’s first drive-through McDonald’s opened in Fallowfield, Manchester in 1986.

Whilst during busier periods you may have to wait a little longer for your food, there is no particular reason why you should have to wait at quieter times and McDonald’s apologises for any frustration experienced. The time taken to prepare a meal can vary depending on what is ordered, especially if you have requested your food be made in a certain way, say without sauces or cheese for example. Nevertheless, McDonald’s can understand your frustration and would like to apologise for any inconvenience this has caused you. If you feel you have received a particularly slow service at any time please bring the matter to the restaurant manager’s attention, or alternatively contact the Customer Services Team on 08705 244622.

McDonald's aims to serve customers visiting a Drive Thru in three and a half minutes, but this can vary depending on how busy the restaurant is and how many cars are in the queue. McDonald’s prepares all of its cooked menu items in the restaurant. Therefore sometimes your order may not be ready and you may be asked to park in one of the waiting bays. This is often the case with grill orders.

This is my experience at Gatwick's Drive Throug, but I suspect could be similiar issues at other restaurants, particularly airport or town centre ones. It's nice to see the parking time allowance has been increased, but I still feel this is a waste and causes aggrivation to familes/large groups and slow eaters, than it does reduce the number of taxis/non-customers using up parking spaces. I still see loads of Taxi's sitting there.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the Gatwick store.
McDonald's UK restaurant parking facilities are primarily there as a convenience for customers who are eating inside the restaurant. Parking is restricted from general public use and McDonalds are actively considering new ways of monitoring.

I work at a Mcdonalds store with a Drive Thru and whilst on the Hand-held order taker i keep seeing stickers that say "Drive Thru VIP" and have the Mcdonalds arches on them, i was wondering if you could tell me anything about them and how you get them. thanks

McDonald's has no knowledge of what or where these stickers have come from, sorry.
