What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 5. 1:Basically Ive been a crew trainer for 8 months and I was told I was going to do my shift managers course in January (MDP 1) however now im being told to do apprenticeship scheme because it is something that the joint venture require?, im working at a franchise restaurant and was wondering if I would have to do the apprenticeship scheme because at current I am studying at university and the CDP mentions nothing about having to do the apprenticeship scheme.
-
Thanks for your question. Completing the apprenticeship is not mandatory for Crew Trainers; however most choose to do it as it helps them when they are supporting employees who are going through the apprenticeship themselves. You should be in a strong position to complete it fairly quickly given your experience with McDonald's and your academic attainment so far. (March 2011)

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 6. Hi, I'm a customer care assistant at one of your franchised stores in Manchester. I have read here that upon completion of the customer care course, I'm entitled to a pay-rise from my current £4,35 to the £5,75 region. However, 2 months after the course and multiple discussions with the Business Manager, pay-rise still hasn't been allowed. What must be done to be eligible for the pay-rise as I have worked on customer care for 6 months prior to the course?

Thanks for your question. Please contact your franchisee if your manager has been unable to deal with your request. (March 2011)

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 9. Hi i would like to know more about the Apprenticeship level 2 in Multi - Skilled Hospitality. Is this course mainly done in the work place? & if you started it can you change your mind if it became to much for you? Thanks
-
Thanks for your question. McDonald's does offer a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Hospitality as a work-based programme. Our apprentices study for their literacy and numeracy qualifications on-line and we provide PCs in each of our staff-rooms to ensure everyone has access to these qualifications. The apprentice also has to show that that they can use their literacy and numeracy in the work place and these skills are called 'key skills'. The vocational part of their qualification takes place in the restaurant, on the 'shop-floor'; this is supported by a knowledge element - known as a technical certificate - where the apprentice learns all the facts and theory that supports their role. The apprentice also learns about the rights and responsibilities in the workplace.
The apprenticeship is a nationally recognised qualification and as such apprentices are 'registered' at the start of their apprenticeship, with an awarding body - McDonald's uses City & Guilds. We aim to support every apprentice through their programme so that they become successful apprentices. However, some people do discover that it is not for them. We have a robust interview and induction programme to ensure that the apprenticeship is right for the individual, so we have very good retention rates. If you want to find out more please visit our website www.mcdonalds.co.uk/people. (February 2011)

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 10. I am a shift manager and passed my BSM course in early 2009. I was only awarded a certificate saying that i had passed the course. Surely it is unfair that new shift managers gain a national diploma whereas older ones gain no such qualification. what plans to you have to certify the older managers to the same level as the newer ones and offer them the same national diploma as obviously they have done the same work to get where they are and do the same job in store.
-
Thanks for your question. You'll be pleased to hear that our qualifications are open to all our employees and managers who have previously completed our training programmes (before they were accredited) and can gain the qualification related to that job role. You will understand that it does entail some extra work and will require one of the Education/ Training team to check your work meets the qualification criteria. The first step would be to email the Education team on education@uk.mcd.com and let them know your details and they will inform you of the next steps. (February 2011)
