We are taking on work shadowing assignments and I was wondering if I might find an assignment with the McDonald's legal department, as I would like to study law at university. Would this be acceptable, and whom should I contact about this?

Firstly apologies for the delay in answering your question, the team has been very busy with all the questions that are pouring in and everybody is working hard to answer them all.
There is no policy regarding relationships between employees, however it is not always approriate for a manager to have a relationship with one of their employees. Each situation will be looked at individually and if appropriate, one of the employees can be transferred to another restaurant nearby.

The manager asked me If I could shave my beard (It is not long, just about 5mm, trimmed). I said no, then he said that it was McDonalds policy that no facial hair is allowed. I Just want to know If it is correct or not.

In order to comply with Food Safety regulations, the rules regarding facial hair are as follows:
No facial hair except for a neatly trimmed moustache is permitted. If an employee is unable to shave off their beard for religious reasons then they will be required to wear a beard snood ( a hairnet for the beard).

Firstly apologies for the delay in answering your question, the team has been very busy with all the questions that are pouring in and everybody is working hard to answer them all.
Shift Managers are responsible for the restaurant operation for the particular shift that they are working - be that breakfast, day, night or overnight shifts.
They’ll oversee the different jobs being seen to by the crew and be there to assist crew members if there are any problems.

McDonald's operates a maternity pay policy for both its hourly paid and salaried management employees. The amounts and qualifying periods vary, so it would be best for an employee to speak to a member of the HR team, who will be able to advise on all personal entitlement.

People don't seem to think it's a great job, but you have to work their to believe it! I am a customer care assistant, and love all the people I work with, and the customers are generally ok too! There should be no problem. It is important that you have all the required legal documents to work in the UK beforehand. As you can imagine, most McDonald's restaurants are usually pretty busy but no matter how hectic, staff are encouraged to do their best to create a lively and positive atmosphere, serving customers quickly, politely and with a smile. The best way to get your team to work with a positive attitude is to encourage a real sense of team spirit and so that is what why McDonald’s does its best to encourage in the restaurants. In terms of culture, the company has the attitude that all opportunities are open to everyone who is prepared to work hard and be part of the team. That means McDonald’s tend to attract motivated people who want to achieve something more than just a pay packet at the end of the week. The majority of McDonald's employees are very active and enthusiastic about life, something that reflects the work ethic and attitude of McDonald's as a business.

Currently the Trainee Business Manager programme is a full-time fully flexible position. This is due to the nature of the role and the intensity of the training programme. However, there are a number of managers who later apply to work flexibly if their personal circumstances change. Hourly-paid managers have the ability to work hours and shifts that suit their lifestyles.

Wendy's has better starting pay. So while you may say "blah blah mcdonalds is good", even if you Are good, why in comparison to every other fastfood-service company do you fall dead last? Like many other retailers, McDonald's pays a lower starting rate to crew members aged under 18. For 16 - 17 year olds working in McDonald's company owned restaurants, employees start on £4.25. 18 - 21 year olds in company owned restaurants start on £4.65 and 22 years and above start on £5.55. The pay rates may vary in franchised restaurants. All McDonald's UK rates of pay are reviewed each year in the light of external market competitiveness, internal comparability and National Minimum Wage legislation. Other benefits for hourly staff include a free meal allowance, is 24 day annual holiday entitlement, free life assurance, private health care (after qualifying period), an employee discount card and a length of service award scheme. McDonald's also have employee recognition awards such as employee of the month, quarter and year in many restaurants. McDonald’s has also featured in the 'The Times top 100 Graduate Employers' list for the last nine years, and for two years running have won 'FT Best Workplaces UK' award. The company is immensely proud of the commitment and effort that all 72,000 employees contribute every day to great food and great customer service.

Thanks for your interest in McDonald’s; a morning shift can be anytime from 5am - 3pm. The best thing to do would be to contact the restaurant you wish to work in directly and find out what hours they have available that might suit your availability.
