- 61. I will like to know what McDonalds considered as disability?
-
It depends upon the context of your question. If you are referring to McDonald’s recruitment policy, then provided the applicant is of school leaving age, all applications are welcome. At the interview stage, McDonald’s will assess, in detail, whether an applicant’s abilities suit the position they have applied for.The company is an equal opportunities employer and would never discount anyone who expresses an interest in working for McDonald’s, and to that end, actively supports hiring candidates with disabilities. Many restaurants employ people with a wide range of disabilities who become an integral part of the restaurant team. If you are referring to McDonald’s policy towards disabled customers, then the company makes every effort to make its restaurants as accessible as possible for all types of customers. As a matter of course, electronic doors are provided whenever there is an update or refurbishment as well as other features to aid access.Additionally all the staff are there to help, and will happily provide any assistance required to make every customer's visit to the restaurant as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 63. Why do you as such a money making company pay only the minimum wage to employees and do not let employees join a works union? Why do you dock wages for breaktimes and why do you break employment law by making teenagers work nights? Why do you not pay employees overtime rates?
-
Like many other companies, one of McDonald’s primary aims is to be a profitable business, but that does not mean that the company does not care about its employees. Indeed, one of the main factors behind McDonald’s success is the hard work carried out by its staff. A career with the company is one that is rich in challenges, stimulation and rewards. All McDonald's UK rates of pay are reviewed each year in the light of external market competitiveness, internal comparability and National Minimum Wage legislation. Like other retailers, McDonald's pays a lower starting rate to crew members aged under 18. For 16 - 17 year olds working in McDonald's company owned restaurants, employees start on £4.25. 18 - 21 year olds in company owned restaurants start on £4.65 and 22 years and above start on £5.55. The pay rates may vary in franchised restaurants. Beyond wages, there are a whole range of benefits in place for hourly paid staff. These include a free meal allowance, paid holiday (four weeks per annum), free life assurance, private health care (after qualifying period), an employee discount card and a length of service award scheme. McDonald's also have employee recognition awards such as employee of the month. In answer to the second part of your question, McDonald’s UK has no objections to anyone joining a trade union. McDonald's believes in good, open dialogue between employees and the company and works with employees and franchisees to make sure this happens both in restaurants and within the organisation as a whole. Employees are free to join a union if they wish and McDonald’s understands that many employees may already be trade union members. Regarding the provision of unpaid lunch hours, many other retailers run this as standard policy, and McDonald’s believes that it compensates for this by offering the other aforementioned benefits. Furthermore, part of the attraction of working for McDonald’s is the flexible shift system, with the company operating a three or four shift pattern per day, offering Breakfast, Day, Night and Overnight hours. All employees have a choice on the hours and shifts they can work, and no one is forced to work unreasonable shifts, with crew members working on later shifts earning a premium rate. As with all laws, and all employers, McDonald’s and its franchisees are required to abide by the working time directive.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 64. Petitioning the OED to redefine the meaning of mcjob is completely meaningless; a dictionary, and especially the OED, simply records current usage that it can find documentary evidence for. It makes no attempt to prescibe the "correct" meaning of a word. Are you really ignorant of the role of a dictionary or is this peitition a PR stunt?
-
McDonald's is well aware that perceptions often lag behind reality. That's why the company have been working to close the gap between perceptions of 'McJobs' and reality for some time, and will continue to do so. McDonald's is not looking for overnight change, although, they hope that the dictionary houses will reconsider their current definition based on the evidence put before them. (June 2007)

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 65. What is paid for a first assistent manager a year?
-
Firstly apologies for the delay in answering your question, the team has been very busy with all the questions that are pouring in and everybody is working hard to answer them all.
In company owned restaurants, the starting salary for a first assistant is £21,500, plus £1,500 to £3,000 weighting in the South East. These figures may be slightly different within franchised restaurants. The next time you visit your local McDonald's restaurant, have a chat with the restaurant manager about availability and job roles and they will be able to give you more information.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 67. If you become a Customer Care Assistant do you automatically start getting paid more than Crew Members or do you have to do some sort of course first before you can start getting a higher hourly rate? Also, what should a Customer Care Assistant get paid on average per hour?
-
Thank you for your question. The majority of people that start employment begin as Crew Members, while some start as Customer Care Assistants. There is however a full training programme before an employee can progress from Crew Member to Customer Care Assistant. Customer Care Assistant is a higher paid position than that of a Crew Member, with additional responsibilities. A McDonald’s Customer Care Assistant deals with customers and makes sure everything runs as it should in the customer areas. Activities include making children feel welcome, handing out balloons, looking after customers' specific needs, keeping high standards of cleanliness in the dining area and toilets and helping to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It's their responsibility to establish and maintain positive communication with customers at all times and to keep the manager informed about customer satisfaction. At McDonald’s UK the pay rates for a Customer Care Assistant range from £5.75 - £7.80, pay is reviewed annually in October and each employee has an annual pay related review between July and September.

As you are clearly aware, McDonald’s have recently attained Awarding Body Status; this means that the company can develop and award qualifications monitored by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA). However in order to partake in these courses you must be an employee of the company. If you are interested in applying for a job for McDonald’s please go to the ‘Careers’ link on www.mcdonalds.co.uk for more information on available roles and the application process. If you are already an employee of McDonald’s then you can undertake GCSE level qualifications in English and Maths free of charge via on-line learning available on ‘Our Lounge’, with ongoing support and guidance with an online tutor. These nationally recognised qualifications are gained in accredited exam centre restaurants. McDonald’s are hoping that this will make a significant difference to the lives of staff who did not obtain these qualifications whilst in the education system.

-
Yes. McDonald’s is one of the biggest employers and trainers of young people in the UK and all employees are paid the appropriate amount at or above the government’s minimum wage. For example, in company-owned restaurants, the average hourly rate of pay for employees (at December 2005) was £5.30. Currently over 83 percent of employees earn above the minimum wage.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 75. Could you please list what is in a McDonalds contract of employment. Thank you
-
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately McDonald’s are unable to provide a comprehensive list of the contents detailed in an employment contract. This is because there are a number of different contracts which would be used for the many different positions within the company. However, typically a McDonald’s contract will include information such as hours worked, duties performed, pay and benefits and contractual obligations.
