- 121. has a mystery shopper ever been to your Earls Court branch in London Earls court? I worked for mac donalds for 2 years in a different country and I know perfectly when a sandwich is fresh or not but the managers in that branch don't seem to fully understand what the black and red numbers displayed on the clock mean.
-
Thank you for your question. Each McDonald’s restaurant in the UK receives two mystery shopper visits per month. If you feel that you have received poor service at a McDonald’s restaurant then please contact the Customer Service Team on 08705 244622 or visit the ‘Contact Us’ section on www.mcdonalds.co.uk who will investigate further. What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 123. how can it take me 6 years to earn £5.73, and someone starts at £6, untrained and same age as me
-
Employee wages starting wages vary depending on their age and position. For 16 - 17 year olds working in McDonald's company owned restaurants, employees start on £4.25. 18 - 21 year olds in company owned restaurants start on £4.65 and 22 years and above start on £5.55. Meanwhile, Floor Managers start on £5.35 an hour, and shift-running Floor Managers start on £6.50 an hour. These pay rates can vary in franchise restaurants. McDonald’s thinks that it pays all members of its staff a competitive and fair wage. All employees have the opportunity to benefit from pay increases in their first year of employment and, thereafter, annually. (Feb 09)

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 124. Has a company got rights to determine when you work overtime
-
Thank you for your Question. Most of McDonald’s 72,000 employees are paid hourly which means that they are paid for each minute that they work. If they work past their scheduled finish time they will be paid at their normal hourly rate for all time worked. Due to the flexible nature of work at McDonald's there is not a specific overtime policy.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 125. why do you insist on employing non english speakin staff in you restaurants
-
Thank you for your question. McDonald's doesn’t set any specific educational criteria for its hourly paid staff, but a command of English, good communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team and engage with customers, plus a great attitude, are all very important. McDonald’s does believe its workforce is diverse and reflects the cultural makeup of the communities they serve.
However if you feel that you did not receive good service at any of the McDonald's restaurants, please bring it to the attention of the restaurant manager. Alternatively, you can contact the Customer Service Team by using the 'Contact Us' link at www.mcdonalds.co.uk or by calling 08705 244622.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 126. Myson is in his 3rd year at Macdonalds He recently enquired about holidays and was told he was only entitled to 1 week for each3 months he work. As the holiday period starts in April this would means he cant take a 2 week paid holiday until the end of September. Is this true or are they messing him about at his store.
-
Hourly paid staff accrue holiday pay on each pay day. This will equate to four weeks paid holiday a year. If an employee wishes to take extra holiday or a holiday that has not been accrued for, then this decision is at the discretion of the Restaurant Manager and would not be a paid holiday. If your son would like to discuss this further he can telephone the HR Helpline on 0870 600 5120.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 127. I would like to draw your attention to a question submitted recently which stated "why is an 18 yr on £4.45p per hour if as you state you pay more than the n.m.w.". Your answer was; "McDonald’s starting rate of pay for 18 year olds is £4.45, which is the same as the national minimum wage." Since October 2007, the national minimum wage for 18-21 year olds, inclusive, was £4.60. This clearly states the current rates. How do you account for this?
-
McDonald’s would like to apologise for any confusion caused over this topic. The Make Up Your Own Mind site has been operating since 2006, and as a result some of the older published answers contain some out of date information. To clarify the issue, 16 - 17 year olds working in McDonald's company owned restaurants start on £4.25. 18 - 21 year olds in company owned restaurants start on £4.65 and 22 years and above start on £5.55. The pay rates may vary in franchised restaurants. Currently less than 17 percent of hourly paid employees are on national minimum wage. All hourly paid employees are appraised after their first three weeks, four months, six months and then annually.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 128. What is your piercing policy?
-
Firstly apologies for the delay in answering your question, the team has been very busy with all the questions that are pouring in and everybody is working hard to answer them all. McDonald’s staff policy regarding jewellery is that no watches, small badges or other jewellery items of any sort, with the exception of a plain wedding band, are to be worn during work. This is due to the risk of it being caught in equipment, dirt being trapped within the item, food safety risk, or a cause of physical contamination. This includes visible body piercing such as tongue, eyebrows and nose. Make-up is permitted as long as it is subtle and not excessive.

Firstly apologies for the delay in answering your question, the team has been very busy with all the questions that are pouring in and everybody is working hard to answer them all. It is difficult to make an accurate estimate as McDonald’s staff work different shifts that can vary in length. However McDonald’s can confirm that the starting rate for 16 - 17 year olds working in company owned restaurants is £4.25. 18 - 21 year olds in company owned restaurants start on £4.65 and 22 years and above start on £5.55. What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 130. Why is it you do not defend your employee's from the shame of having a McJob?
-
Firstly apologies for the delay in answering your question, the team has been very busy with all the questions that are pouring in and everybody is working hard to answer them all. McDonald’s does not believe that there is any shame in working for the company. A career at McDonald's is one that is rich in challenges, stimulation and rewards. And a job with McDonald's is a valuable first step for many young people into the workplace. The majority of McDonald’s UK employees are paid above the government’s minimum wage and McDonald's feels that its current pay structure is generous and reflective of the substantial benefits available with successful career progression - such as private healthcare, company car, 5 weeks holiday per annum and life assurance cover. In 2007, McDonald’s invested £15 million in training. 17, 000 employees passed through company training centres and over 30,000 employees received hospitality training. McDonald’s has actually featured in the 'The Times top 100 Graduate Employers' list for the last eight years, and has also won the 'FT Best Workplaces UK' award. The company is immensely proud of the commitment and effort of its staff, and consider them a major contributor in the overall success of the business. Hopefully this information will convince you that there is more to working at McDonald’s than what you perceive.

Would any of the suits in head office give up their excessive salary and 9-5 to work the extended opening hours for minimum wage + the derisory 50p premium rate? Recieving the abuse and sleep problems your foolish ideas subject the crew to?
-
Firstly apologies for the delay in answering your question, the team has been very busy with all the questions that are pouring in and everybody is working hard to answer them all. McDonald’s does not agree that its staff are subject to abuse. A career at McDonald's is one that is rich in challenges, stimulation and rewards. All McDonald's UK rates of pay are reviewed each year in the light of external market competitiveness, internal comparability and National Minimum Wage legislation. Like many other retailers, McDonald's pays a lower starting rate to crew members aged under 18. For 16 - 17 year olds working in McDonald's company owned restaurants, employees start on £4.25. 18 - 21 year olds in company owned restaurants start on £4.65 and 22 years and above start on £5.55. The pay rates may vary in franchised restaurants. Other benefits in place for hourly paid staff, including a free meal allowance, four weeks paid holiday per annum, free life assurance, private health care (after a qualifying period), an employee discount card and a length of service awards scheme. It is true that McDonald’s does operate a shift pattern that incorporates evening and night hours, however this allows the company to run a flexible shift policy, designed to allow staff to meet their own needs. Hourly paid staff are able to choose when they want to work, and to change their schedules weekly to fit in with other commitments such as child care or studies.

McDonald’s has strict policies in place to ensure staff have adequate breaks, during which time staff can have something to eat. However if staff are caught behaving in an inappropriate way then they could face disciplinary actions.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 133. Hi, Recently McDonald's gained awarding body status from Qualifications and Qurriculum Authority (QCA). From, January 2008 McDonald's have started the pilot course "Basic Shift Managers". Could you please give me information about the stracture. How the company will run this course? Thanks
-
Firstly apologies for the delay in answering your question, the team has been very busy with all the questions that are pouring in and everybody is working hard to answer them all.
McDonald's achieved awarding body status in January 2008, from the QCA and this means that McDonald's can now develop and award its own qualifications in hospitality and catering.
The first qualification that McDonald's have developed is a private qualification (only for McDonald's employees) that has been developed from our existing first level of management training - MDP 1. All new shift managers who successfully complete MDP 1 and the Basic Shift Management course will be awarded a nationally recognised Level 3 Diploma in Shift Management, which is equivalent to an A level qualification.
As a company we will continue to accredit our in-house training programmes, so that they are recognised alongside other academic qualifications. Providing a nationally recognised qualification at different stages in our employees' careers will help build pride and recognise our world class management development programmes; and will develop the skills and knowledge of managers to help them deliver a great customer experience.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 134. Do you allow employees with AIDS, HIV or any other STDs or STIs to work in your restaurant?
-
Firstly apologies for the delay in answering your question, the team has been very busy with all the questions that are pouring in and everybody is working hard to answer them all.
This information is not collected during the application process as it has no bearing on a person's ability to do the job. Government advice on the subject of Blood Borne Infections states that infections such as HIV, do not themselves present a risk of food contamination. As long as they are well, there is no reason why people with these infections should not be employed as food handlers.
Furthermore to prevent any sort of food contamination, McDonald's assures you that the company maintains the highest standards of hygiene and food safety. All restaurant staff receives hygiene training when they start work. This training continues throughout their employment with McDonald's. McDonald's restaurant staff that are handling or preparing food must wash their hands at least every 30 minutes. Other staff not handling food washes their hands at least every 60 minutes. Staff members are also trained to wash their hands before starting work, after using the toilet, and after doing anything that may have contaminated their hands. Cleanliness in the restaurants is very important to McDonald's and hand washing is monitored on a day-to-day business as part of the managers' daily checklist of tasks. All McDonald's restaurants follow a 'clean-as-you-go' procedure, by which floors and surfaces are cleaned throughout the day as required. There is also a more detailed cleaning of kitchen equipment and surfaces, tables, chairs, floors, toilets etc., once the restaurant has closed.

In order to do this, I need to collect various work experiences, and therefore wondered whether it would be possible to provide me with a list of abittoirs you are associated with in and around London and Essex, and I would be happy to do work experience in an abittor used by Mcdonalds restaurants, after looking around your website.

Unfortunately McDonald's are unable to arrange this facility - it would be down to the individual company on who they employ. The best thing to do would be to contact the British Meat Processors Association (BMPA) which represent many of the meat plants. Their website address is www.bmpa.uk.com
