- 1. Hi, I have two questions. I sometimes find the employees at my local Mcdonalds (Watford lower high street) use too much salt on the fries. Much more than other Mcdonalds restaurants. Ive actually once found them too salty to be edible. I am sure some of the employees put more salt on than trained to. What can be done about this? My other question is why do you charge about £1.20 for a 500ml bottle of buxton water that can be bought for 40p at Tesco? It feels like a rip off to me. Thank you.
-
Thank you for your question. McDonald’s fries are lightly salted by hand after cooking, so the actual amount may differ slightly per individual portion. Currently our research shows customers are happy with the kitchen staff salting the fries and in a typical serving, a small portion of French Fries contains 0.5g of salt. However, if you would like your fries unsalted simply ask the crewmember when you order your food and this can be arranged for you. With regards to water McDonald’s believes that it provides its customers with food of a high standard, quick service and value for money.

I believed that as you are not a 24hr establishment this milk should have been used yesterday? Why have USE BY dates on your products?
-
Thank you for your question. Best before dates mean that the product should be sold and consumed by midnight of the date shown. It is perfectly acceptable to have a product available on the date that is shown (providing it is consumed before midnight).

-
Thank you for your question. Nutritionists say that individual food items are not 'healthy' or 'unhealthy'. It's a matter of variation, moderation, balance and physical activity in your overall diet that counts. However, it is true that as a result of customer feedback about the availability of new menu choices, along with calls for changes in ingredients and nutritional information available, McDonald’s has responded proactively. In recent years we have expanded the menu with Fruit Bags, Salads and Toasted Deli Sandwiches. There have been reductions in salt levels and comprehensive nutritional information has been made available for all McDonald’s food in restaurants and online. To find out about the nutritional content of McDonald’s food, please visit the ‘Food’ section of www.mcdonalds.co.uk where you can find the ‘Nutritional Counter’ and ‘Ingredients’. Additionally you can also visit www.mcdonaldsmenu.info as well as find information in restaurants on the back of tray-liners.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 5. im not happy with 1 of your answers about your food-here is a quote "Many nutritionists believe that it's wrong to define a food as 'healthy' or 'unhealthy'"i DO agree that you can eat anything in moderation and still be healthy but you are skirting around the issue.for eg even though i could eat a deep fried mars bar and keep healthy that doesnt mean that a deep fried mars bar is healthy so can you give a clearer answer to the question "is your food unhealthy"
-
McDonald’s understands your point, but it is tricky to give you a definitive answer as different items of food sold within McDonald's have different nutritional profiles, so a look at the menu item by item will give you a clearer view. There is a general perception that all so called "fast food" is automatically unhealthy, but as highlighted in the recent television programmes, such as Channel 4’s Dispatches, this isn't always the case. A Big Mac and fries was shown to have less fat than a gourmet chicken sandwich that many would have believed to have been the much healthier option.
However, this is just one example. Nutritional information for all McDonald’s food can be found on www.mcdonalds.co.uk and on the tray liners you are given if you decide to eat in at the restaurants. This enables people to make better informed based on this information. McDonald’s also offer a wide range of menu options including salads and fruit bags, but you can also enjoy some of the core options like burgers and fries knowing that McDonald’s have an ongoing commitment to salt reduction, eliminating trans fats from foods, sourcing produce of good provenance and to only serving free range eggs and organic milk.

I understand not every meal will be perfect but surely your staff are properly trained so that the meal is cooked nicely and tastes acceptable as I am finding this isn't the case more and more freqently.

McDonald’s is sorry that you have not been satisfied with the standard of food you have received recently. The company always strives to ensure that the best possibly quality food is delivered, upon every visit. Only the best ingredients are used in McDonald’s food, and contain nothing that should make a healthy person feel the symptoms you have described, unless you have allergies to certain foods. If you feel at any time, that the standard of food falls short, please do inform the restaurant manager who will be happy to replace your meal with a fresh order. Alternatively you could contact the Customer Services team on 08705 244622 if you feel this is a recurring problem with a particular restaurant or otherwise.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 7. I decided to eat McDonald's exclusively last week. Then I suffered a severe stomachache and I went to the doctor, who diagnosed me with salmonella. Are you sure that your beef burgers aren't instead made of turtle (which, by the way, is quite tasty)? Also, if I spill coffee over myself and sue you, will I be able to settle for £200,000 too?
-
All McDonald’s Hamburgers are made from nothing but 100% beef, taken from whole cuts of forequarter and flank, sourced only from British and Irish farmers. None of the products include turtle. All restaurants have extremely high hygiene and food preparation standards. If you are seriously suggesting you may have caught something from one of McDonald’s restaurants, please make contact with the Customer Service department with the appropriate medical evidence.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 8. i would like to know the holding time of the food product, that are being sold in macdonald's. as i belive hot food is suppose to be served hot while cold food is suppose to be served cold.but this vary from store to store. i will appreciate if i can have a feed back on this
-
Thank you for your question. Once sandwiches are prepared, they are kept in a heated area between the front counter and the kitchen to ensure that they remain hot and fresh. They must be sold within ten minutes otherwise they are disposed of. A timecard system is used to help manage this. The holding time for each product varies depending on the type of food. For example, a burger or sandwich is held for ten minutes and French Fries are held for five minutes, whereas the holding time for a salad will be up to eight hours in the fridge. McDonald’s food should always be fresh, but if you feel that this is not the case, please speak to the restaurant manager on duty. Alternatively, you can call the Customer Services Team on 08705 244 622 or visit the 'Contact Us' section at www.mcdonalds.co.uk.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 9. Why do you say that your food is healthy but it's not?My friend ate your food once a week and she got very tired and ill.
-
McDonald's believes that its food is of good quality, made from quality ingredients, and there is nothing in it that should make a healthy person ill or feel sick in any way. Many nutritionists say that individual food items cannot be 'healthy' or 'unhealthy' on their own. Rather, it is simply down to the individual to enjoy food in moderation as part of a varied, balanced diet combined with frequent physical activity. To this end, McDonald's believes that its food can be enjoyed responsibly by anybody as part of a balanced lifestyle, as all its food is made from similar ingredients to those available in supermarkets or at home. If you or your friend would like a more thorough breakdown of all the nutritional information in McDonald’s food, then please find the ‘Ingredients List’ of the ‘Eat Smart’ section of www.mcdonalds.co.uk. Alternatively try visiting www.mcdonaldsmenu.info.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 10. I note with interest, that the quality of your food has improved greatly, since Morgan Spurlock did his documentary. Is the new "healthy" MacD's largely as a result of this?
-
Sincere apologies from the team for the late reply to your question.
Thank you for your comments. McDonald's sees the documentary 'Super Size Me' as a personal experiment by a filmmaker, based on eating too much while doing far too little exercise, the results of which were clearly not good. McDonald's understands how this caused concerns not only among McDonald's customers, but with the public overall. The recent tasty additions to McDonald's menu are a result of listening to customers and their opinions, and then pro-actively reviewing the menu. And increased nutritional information is available on the reverse of all trayliners in restaurants and online at www.mcdonaldsmenu.info.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 11. Is it possible to eat at Mcdonalds for every meal for the rest of your life without witnessing the side effects that featured in Super Size Me? If so, can you give an example menu plan?
-
Any diet that consists of one nutritional source is not a wise choice and one that health experts would not recommend. A good diet should be made up of a good balance of different food types and sources that allow for moderation and variation, as well as regular physical activity. To that end, Morgan Spurlock's diet in 'Super Size Me' was an extreme and one dimensional diet that consisted of over twice the recommended daily calorie intake for an adult male. Spurlock also stopped all physical activity at the same time.
You can check out the nutritional details of all McDonald's menu items on the back of trayliners in all restaurants or by going to www.mcdonaldsmenu.info.
