McDonald’s prices may vary across different countries. This is because costs such as food ingredients, rent, and labour can differ widely in various parts of the world.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 2. How do Mcdonalds price their products or services and why?
-
Thank you for your question. McDonald's UK offer a three tier pricing structure consisting of Value, Core and Premium products. Within this structure our prices are ultimately determined using supply and demand calculations, much like any other company. There is a science behind our pricing structure, one that acknowledges the influence of several factors on our pricing, and considers factors specific to the local market of each site. McDonald's hopes you can appreciate that we are unable to comment on commercially sensitive information regarding our price formulation, but suffice to say that in the UK we aim to provide products at prices that we believe represent good value for money.

I was of the understanding that the prices were the same at all outlets. Please confirm why they would be different. Thank you
-
Thank you for your question. Prices may sometimes vary between different McDonald’s restaurants according to whether they are company owned or franchised stores. As a franchisor McDonald's cannot prescribe pricing to franchisees. They are advised as to local McOpCo (McDonald’s Operated Company) pricing and set their own price structure as they see fit in their local market.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 4. Without the use of corporate spin, could you explain to me why a Double Cheeseburger, small Fries and small carbonated drink costs more than a Big Mac(tm) Value meal (gone large!). Surely for those on a budget the so called "Poundsaver" menu is a bit of a con, or to coin a phrase "Bait and Switch".
-
Thank you for your question. McDonald’s believes that it offers tasty food at a reasonable price, representing fantastic value across the menu.
Extra Value Meals are meal deals offered when you buy a selected sandwich, a side order of either a Garden Salad or French Fries, and a drink. The McDonald's Saver Menu has a great selection of items that are not part of a meal, ranging in price from 69p upwards.
Generally, a Double Cheeseburger with Fries and a soft drink should not be more expensive than a large Extra Value Meal. However, pricing and menu items can vary between restaurants, depending on whether the restaurant is company owned or a franchise. If the restaurant is a franchise, specific prices of menu items are left to the discretion of the restaurant owner.
If you are not satisfied with an experience as a customer, please let the restaurant management know or contact Customer Services on 08705 244622 so that your complaint can be investigated.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 5. Why does a double cheese burger meal cost exactly the same with a quarter pounder meal - £3.67? I felt ripped off as the reason I ordered a double cheese burger was that I expected it would be cheaper.
-
Thank you for your question. McDonald’s is sorry to hear you had an unpleasant experience whilst at one of its restaurants. However, Extra Value Meals are meal deals offered when you buy a sandwich, a side order of either a garden salad or French Fries, and a drink. The price of a meal may sometimes vary between McDonald’s restaurants according to whether they are company owned or franchised stores. However, prices for all menu items are displayed in each restaurant. The average price for a medium Double Cheese Burger Meal is £3.17. Additionally the Double Cheese Burger is also part of McDonald’s Saver Menu, which offers customers great value products at very affordable pricing for the individual items. These items however are not available as a bundle and therefore an Extra Value Meal may work out cheaper for certain items.

-
McDonald’s aims to be the best restaurant experience the world over, and standards and practices should be very similar. However, this website was specifically designed as an open forum to deal with issues surrounding McDonald’s UK. As such the company cannot really comment on the practices of McDonald’s including the pricing in Malta. McDonald’s UK aims are to provide its customers with food of a high standard, quick service and value for money. Please visit www.mcdonalds.com for more information.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 7. Given the recent reduction in vat, how come the cost of a large shake remains £1.69? How much was a large shake 3 years ago? And how do you justify the increase?
-
Thank you for your question. In 2006, a large shake was priced at £1.39. As you may be aware, food prices have steadily risen around the globe and dairy products are no exception to this. McDonald's success relies on providing great food at affordable prices and so we have done our best to keep our prices low while still remaining commercially viable. All of McDonald’s milk comes from British and Irish farmers and we also need to make sure they are able to charge us a price for their produce that allows them to stay in business. In terms of VAT, we are passing on the savings from the VAT cut in the way we consider is of most value to customers. We are concentrating it on some of our most popular menu items like the Extra Value Meals, the Happy Meal, the Big Mac, McChicken Sandwich and Filet o’Fish.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 8. 1/12/2008 went into my regular branch rialto in salford, ordered my regular 2x cheeseburger and medium fries. last week cost 2.77 today charged 2.99. asked why staff said it was to do with vat. if vat reduced by 2.5% i would expect to see about 2% off my 2.77 instead a dramatic increase of over 11% on cheeseburgers. who are you trying to kid? i won't be going back to mcripoffs again. ask them at the branch ive been visiting for over three years, not any more!

-
The most expensive ingredient on our menu is the beef patty which is made from whole cuts of forequarter and flank. Menu items are priced depending on their contents and size. McDonald’s aims to give customers value right across the menu and believes its food is reasonably priced and of good quality.
Furthermore, McDonald’s is very proud of the well-established relationships it has with British and Irish beef suppliers, many of whom have been producing beef for McDonald’s for decades. McDonald’s sincerely believes that the long-term sustainability of top quality ingredients is based on treating suppliers fairly, and paying them accordingly.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 10. Hi- i was wondering how do you know whether your local mcdonalds is a frachise or company based- if they are company based am i right in thinking that they all charge the same for meals. Also would you be able to tell me the average price or the company based price of a medium chicken legend meal? thanks
-
Many thanks for your question. Whilst it is true that company-owned restaurants all have standard prices for menu items, as you have mentioned there is a slight variation between these standard prices and those of franchised restaurants. As a result there are no standard price lists available, although prices are displayed clearly in each restaurant.

Firstly apologies for the delay in answering your question, the team has been very busy with all the questions that are pouring in and everybody is working hard to answer them all.
Unfortunately it is difficult to provide an accurate answer. This is because prices vary between restaurants that are company owned and others that are franchised, and as a result there is no definitive price list available. However prices for all items are clearly displayed in each restaurant.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 14. Hello, I was just wondering what decides the price of a mcdonalds meal. Where I live it costs £3.29 (Was £3.19) in the town for a medium chicken sandwich meal but in the retail park it costs £3.69. Is it something to do with ownership of the particular store?
-
Thank you for your question. McDonald’s UK prices may sometimes vary between different McDonald’s restaurants according to whether they are company owned or franchised stores. McDonald's works hard to provide the best quality food at the best possible price across its menu. There are a lot of factors that are taken into account before a final price is presented such as the cost of ingredients needed to make the product, marketing and preparing the product, delivery costs and customer research as well as any local factors that might need to be taken in to account. The goal is that each individual restaurant can provide food at the most competitive price possible for customers.
