- 1. It is apparent that you use the Tyne Tees and Anglia regions to test your new products such as the Chicken Grillstar. What is the reason why you choose these two areas in particular to test your products?

Thanks for your question. Our testing programme is extremely important to us to ensure we deliver the right products for our customers. We go through a rigorous process when selecting test regions to ensure we are able to answer our commercial, operational and consumer objectives. It is the combination of these decisions that leads us to select the regions for our testing programme. (June 2011)

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 2. One guy, Dillon, asked whether the Mozarella Cheeseburger would make a comeback. There is no doubt on this earth that this was for sale in the UK in the 90s. It had a slice of Mozarella and a white mozarella sauce and came out a couple of times within a coupel of years. I assume there is no plans to re-release this? Thanks!

Thanks for your question. We believe you are referring to the Mozzarella McDouble promotional burger that we had on our menu in 2001, which was part of our ‘Love Italian Food’ theme. This was a double Hamburger featuring Mozzarella cheese served in a Quarter bun. We currently don’t have any plans to re-introduce this burger. (May 2011)

My Son purchased a meal at your outlet, he had a monopoly voucher which entitled him to a free apple pie, unfortunatly when he presented this at the counter he was told he had to be 16 to claim his free gift I have to say this is dissgusting, you dont have to be 16 to buy your food, come on my kids eat loads of your food (or at least used to) Thankyou in anticipation

Thank you for your question. McDonald’s apologises for any inconvenience, however unfortunately a person must be of 16 years of age or over in order to participate and redeem any of the prizes in the McDonald’s Monopoly promotion. This is a rule of the promotion and is clearly stated on all of the communication.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 4. When I get a coffee, I can collect tokens and get a free coffee. How come this does not extend to my tea drinking colleagues? It seems so unfair that I can save for a free coffee and they can not. Would it be possible to have it so that when you have a complete card you can get a free coffee or a free tea?

Thank you for your question. At present it is at the McDonald’s restaurant manager's discretion whether or not you can redeem your completed coffee card for a free tea. However your tea-drinking colleagues are able to collect tokens as well, these tokens are can be found on the side of any hot drink cup along with a collector’s card to attach them to.

I note the difference between the 2006 and the 2009 adverts for the Yorkie McFlurry, in that the 2009 adverts did not have the "it's not for girls" slogan from Nestle, was this due to complaints about the sexist advertising by Nestle which McDonalds bought into in 2006

Thank you for your question. With regards to the McDonald’s McFlurry, the company works very closely with Cadbury and Nestle, as they are both leaders in the confectionary market. As a result McDonald’s allows the brand personality of the confectionary to influence the concept for its McFlurrys. Nestle have moved away from their "Not for Girls" positioning which is why it is not reflected in the current Yorkie McFlurry creative.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 6. I note in the breakfast promotion for the coffee mug, the oatso simple is excluded. Could the porridge be included in such future promotions as it would help promote this healthy food which is my favourite of the breakfast menu?

Thank you for your question. McDonald’s is pleased you are enjoying the Coffee Mug promotion. However the reason for the porridge not being included in the offer is because promotions are only available on breakfast meals and Porridge is only a stand-alone menu item, not part of a meal deal.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 7. I've seen what look like very tasty promotional sandwiches displayed at the drive thru entrance. On two occasions I tried different sandwiches and both times I was disappointed and couldn't eat them because of the contents. Why don’t you describe your promotional products on the displays? I would know then that I might not enjoy.

When promotional menu items are released McDonald’s makes every attempt to use names of an appropriate description and to show a true representation of the product and its contents. However we appreciate your feedback and will make every effort to further improve future displays for menu promotions.

Thank you for your question. There are five main teams within the Marketing department: family, adult food, adult promotions, merchandising and regional marketing. The role of the marketing department is to deal with all consumer-facing communications that inform people about the products and services available at McDonald's, from in-store merchandising and TV commercials, to Happy Meal licences and promotional food events. The team works across different areas of the menu: for example, the Breakfast menu, the Main menu and Happy Meals. Every year the company constructs a plan to implement the new menu items that are primed for launch and communication strategies across the appropriate channels that will provide support and awareness for the new items. McDonald's uses a mix of both qualitative and quantitative research techniques to assess the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. The company conducts focus groups amongst the pertinent target audience prior to a campaign launch to inform the development of creative material, and quantitative post-tracking amongst a national sample of consumers to measure awareness, comprehension of messages, enjoyment, engagement and ad motivation.

I had heard that McDonalds dropped him due to a recent media scandal that revealed him to be a homosexual. Is this true? Does McDonalds condone the mistreatment of homosexuals? Thank you for your question. Major McCheese along with the Hamburglar, Grimace and Birdie no longer feature in McDonalds marketing activities in the UK, and there are currently no plans to re-introduce them. However, they can still be seen abroad in some countries. Meanwhile, Ronald McDonald is still McDonald’s chief happiness officer and has been the face of McDonald's since 1963. He is one of the most recognised characters in the world, and McDonald's hopes that this will carry on for a long time to come. It should be noted that all McDonald's characters are fictional.

Why is it whenever i ask for the student offeres i am always told at every mcdonalds i go to that they have never heard of it before and they are not willing to do it for me. I have a valid NUS card. I have even had 1 mcdonalds tell me that even if they had heard of it they are a franchise and dont have to honour it. I am yet to find a single mcdonalds willing to give us students the student offers.

The best course of action you can take is to contact the restaurant prior to your visit to ask if they do offer student discounts and look out for the Student Offers A3 poster that is displayed in all stores participating in the offer. The current student offer of a free Hamburger, Cheeseburger or McFlurry with a purchase of any Extra Value Meal is available to all students with a valid student ID. McDonald’s also provides an offer exclusive for NUS Extra cardholders which offers Free Medium Fries with the purchase of a Big Mac or McChicken Sandwich.

I saw a McDonalds employee take a huge crap in my burger, obviously I reported it but the manager punched me in the face and said I should be happy with what I got. What I want to know is are you planning on bringing out any new milkshake flavours soon?

McDonalds UK has no record of any staff member behaving in this way. Any staff caught behaving in such a vulgar fashion would be dismissed immediately. With regard to the second part of your question, from time to time McDonald's occasionally offers promotional Milkshake flavours, so please keep your eyes peeled for these in the future.

Firstly apologies for the delay in answering your question, the team has been very busy with all the questions that are pouring in and everybody is working hard to answer them all.
Sorry, but the promotional Hot Dog was only available for a short period of time. However, please keep your eyes peeled as they may reappear in the future. With regards to your question about deliveries, many factors have to be taken into account to provide a delivery service, for example the length of time taken for the staff to reach their destinations to ensure hot fresh food in the quickest time. As a company, McDonald's feels that it could not adequately meet these goals at the present time.

First let me congratulate you to a promotion that gives such an everyday item,however,your logo on the inside rim and the rainforest alliance logo is only visible if you are right handed. Isn`t it a shame that you lose a relatively high proportion of advertising?

Thank you for your question. McDonald’s is pleased you are enjoying the Coffee Mug promotion. With regards to the Coffee Mug design it has been designed based on the fact that the majority of people in this country are right handed. However, as you rightly state McDonald’s does understand that having the Golden Arches and Rainforest Alliance logos in this position means if you are left handed and are holding the mug in your left hand you may be unable to see these logos when you drink from the mug.
