Firstly apologies for the delay in answering your question, the team has been very busy with all the questions that are pouring in and everybody is working hard to answer them all.
McDonald’s opened its first restaurant in the UK in 1974. With regards to Birkenhead, the first restaurant to open was our town centre store located at 262/264 Grange Road. This opened on 2nd June 1986.
Since then we have opened a drive thru restaurant at Rock retail park, this store opened on 30th September 1999.

Restaurant location criteria will vary depending upon the likely sales generators. In the high street, shopping centres and retail/leisure parks, McDonald's will generally rely on the strength of the shop units and brands available to customers nearby to determine whether or not the company should open a restaurant. In the case of a roadside site, it will generally be down to prominence, accessibility and the volume of passing vehicles. For other sites, decisions will be based upon factors including the likely catchment population of the area. In addition, McDonald’s has restaurants in specialised locations such as railway stations, airports and theme parks. On occasion new sites will encompass several of the sale generator categories listed above but each decision will have to take account of the existing restaurant network.

Thanks for posting. The five longest established restaurants in Scotland are Dundee, which opened its doors on November 23rd 1987, followed by Kirkcaldy in December 1987, Inverness in April 1988, Glasgow Trongate in August 1988, and finally Edinburgh, Princes Street in August 1989.

You will be happy to know that McDonald’s does not use any genetically modified (GM) ingredients in the food it serves. To answer your second question: depending on factors such as location and size, there are a few McDonald’s restaurants in the UK that open late (various times past 11pm). In these cases, it is likely that there will be a limited menu available. Due to operational and cleaning procedures, the number of menu items is reduced, although all key items are available. There are ninety three restaurants in the UK that are open 24hrs. Nine restaurants in London are open 24hrs: Old Kent Rd, Haringey, Wandsworth, Beckton, Shadwell, Mount Nessing, Heathrow, Leytonstone and Commercial rd.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 13. How come the McDonalds outlets inside ASDAs and Food Courts don't do the full menu? the ASDA in Widnes never have the special limited edition burgers and they only sell SIX nuggets per portion. I want me some 20 nuggets!

Firstly, many apologies for the very slow response to your question, as the site went through a few changes and technical updates some questions had slipped through so thank you for your patience. Please continue to send your questions and check back on the site from time to time for all the latest on Make Up Your Own Mind. In regards to your question, there are no McCafes in the UK. This is a concept that has worked really well in Australia and some parts of Europe but proved to be less successful than McDonald’s traditional restaurant format in the UK. However, McDonald’s is investing time and money in the restaurants to make them a more enjoyable and contemporary place to eat. WiFi is now available free of charge in all of McDonald’s restaurants and the company has started a programme of upgrading restaurant interiors to make them warmer, brighter and more contemporary.
