- 1. Hi, i am a muslim and am going to start a job at mcdonalds as a crew member. I wanted to know if i would wear gloves when i prepare food as i dont want to touch the meat.
-
First things first, welcome to McDonald’s and congratulations on become part of the company. It really depends on which type of roll you are going to be working in as a McDonald’s crew member. All restaurant staff receive hygiene training when they start work. This training, plus awareness of the importance of hygiene, continues throughout their employment with McDonald's. Managers and staff are extremely vigilant when food is being prepared. In line with UK food industry standards, McDonald's restaurant staff wear special gloves when handling raw meat and uncooked eggs. However they are not required to wear gloves for other food preparation. This is complemented by a strict system of regular hand washing in all restaurants to make sure that all the food produced is safe. If you feel that you would prefer to wear the gloves in other situations then please bring it to the attention of the restaurant manager so you can resolve the situation.

-
No, this is absolutely not acceptable. All McDonald's staff, from the day that they begin their employment with the company, are thoroughly trained in various aspects of hygiene, and within this training, there are very strict procedures that pertain to how often and when hands should be washed. If you see anything that contradicts these high standards, please bring it to the attention of the restaurant manager so that the matter can be investigated.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 5. mc donalds, i saw one of your staff drop a tray of burger meat onto the floor, he picked them up put them back on the tray and carried on as if nothing had happend. this really annoys me, it was a long time ago but i remember it. also, there are rumours that they spit in the food, is this true??
-
No, this is not true. If McDonald's receives any allegations about bodily fluids in food these claims are fully investigated and if something like this were to happen any staff member acting in this way would be dismissed. McDonald's is not aware of the incident you mention but this would not be acceptable to the company as any food dropped on the floor in a McDonald's restaurant is immediately discarded. If you feel that you have not received good service at any time please talk to the restaurant manager about this or call Customer Services on 08705 244622.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 7. Is everyone who touches food in McDonalds required to wear gloves? I worked for 10 years in McDonald's Australia until 2000. All of those 10 years everyone was required to wear one pair of latex style gloves when touching food except for the people on grill or were required to put a 2nd pair of cheaper thinner plastic gloves over the latex style gloves when touching uncooked patties so that they didn't contaminate the latex ones with raw meat then use those contaminated gloves to remove the cooked meat from the grills. I am a regular customer at Lewisham McDonald's in London, I get a deli sandwich from them approximately 3-4 times a month. I have never seen anyone wearing gloves there ever. And I look, after working for McDonald's for 10 years I find it hard to switch off from the checking out whats going on. The part that worried me most is that you even see the managers going from serving and taking money to wrapping burgers without washing there hands. Are the food safety requirements different in the UK then Australia? I would be very suprised to find that the UK are using lower standards then those I know have been in place for over 16years in Australia.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 9. all mcdonalds food do they really wash there hands before they make it.
-
Yes, of course. McDonald's restaurant staff who handle or prepare food wash their hands at least every 30 minutes and other staff not handling food wash their hands at least every 60 minutes. Staff members are also trained to wash their hands before starting work, after using the toilet and after doing specific tasks. Cleanliness in the restaurants is very important to McDonald's and hand washing is monitored on a day- to-day business as part of the managers’ daily checklist of tasks.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 12. I think McDonalds has an interesting role in society. I'm intersted in some of my observations particularly in Hong Kong but also elsewhere around the world: Did it ever occur to you that your staff are invariably very spotty. The implication is that it's MacDonalds food that causes this. I wonder if anyone ever observed this within your organistation?
-
McDonald’s staff are not invariably spotty – some have spots, some don’t. Many people, young as well as older people, suffer with spots, acne and other skin problems. This is not exclusive to people that work at McDonald’s - it happens to others in many different kinds of employment. Often, skin conditions are not related to diet.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 13. i have visited a few restraunts in my area and have noticed that the young girs do not wear hair nets or even keep hair under the hats they wear why is this?
-
McDonald’s has strict standards of hygiene and appearance for staff. All staff who handle food should wear hats, and where the hair cannot be controlled sufficiently by the hat, should wear hairnets too. Staff are fully trained and instructed on when and how to use the hairnet. If you see a specific problem with any of the staff members at McDonald’s, please do not hesitate to speak to the restaurant manager.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 14. Why did your staff urinate in the ovens at your restraunt on the M24?
-
This is not true. McDonald’s kitchens do not have ovens nor does McDonald’s UK know of there being an M24. McDonald’s is very strict about its food safety and hygiene procedures and if McDonald’s receives any allegations about this sort of behaviour, these claims are fully investigated. There are many such stories that do the rounds and not one has ever been found to have any factual basis. Needless to say, if there was any truth in any such allegations, it would be a dismissible offence.

At my local McDs, there was one particular assistant whose nails were bitten down and black, and looked like her teeth hadn't seen a toothbrush in a while, and greasy hair falling over the food. YuK!

McDonald’s is sorry to hear about your experience in a particular restaurant. The company has strict standards of hygiene and appearance for staff.
