What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 4. Why can I only view the mobile version of your websites when using my iPhone? The information I want is on the full version of the site and you don't even have a "View full site" option. How am I meant to decide what I want from your restaurant when I can't see your menu because every time I type in the address for it I get relocated to a very-not-useful mobile website?
-
Thanks for your question. At the moment the majority of the McDonald's UK website is not optimised for a mobile experience and as such we have limited the content that can be accessed on a mobile device to those areas that do work.
We are aware that access to our site via mobile devices is important to our customers and we are working on this as a priority to improve this experience, including access on both mobile internet and apps.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 5. Is there any criticism of McDonald's that you think is valid? And if so, what is it. I can only find refutations of all criticism on this site. Thank you.
-
McDonald's is OK with criticism about its business. It is always keen to take part in intelligent and factual debate whenever there are comments or questions directed at the company. However, the majority of comments tend to be based on incorrect information or myth. Being the recognised leader in the quick service sector, McDonald's understands that it will bear the brunt for the ills of the industry, and rumours can be difficult to control. With this in mind, McDonald's works hard to quickly address the misinformation and try to put people's minds at rest with the facts, which are often more simple and straight forward than the stories themselves.
For example, listening to customer concerns and feedback about the availability of new menu choices, calls for changes in ingredients and nutritional information availability, McDonald's has responded proactively to give its customers what they ask for. Hence in recent years, you will have seen new menu items such as Fruit Bags, Salads and Toasted Deli Sandwiches, reductions in salt and fat and comprehensive nutritional information available for all McDonald's food in restaurants and online. McDonald's always tries to listen to customers and look for the positives in valid criticism to help it maintain consistent levels of improvement and progression.

-
All questions published on this website have been sent in by members of the public, which McDonald’s is answering as quickly as it can. The pictures on the website are of real people on the street who have been used to represent the wide range of people like yourself, who have been asking questions.

Anyway I'm a big fan of Maccy's, I think you get a lot of bad press for no real reason. Anyway I heard that there was a chance a Maccys could open in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. Is this true? We only have poor quality chippy's here. I once heard you guys wanted to come to Bridgnorth but the local council denied your permissions etc. Damn Council. Keep up the good work guys!
-
Thank you for your feedback - it is great to know that McDonald's efforts to run its UK business in an open and transparent way are appreciated by customers. McDonald’s probably suffers from more misconceptions than any other food company and it is great for McDonald’s to have a forum that lets us tell the real story to customers looking for answers to genuine concerns. With regards to Bridgnorth McDonalds has an active acquisition programme and is looking for new sites in a number of locations.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 8. Why is McDonalds so so so unhealthy? Why can't people spell on this website? why can't you answer questions without giving the same answer for four questions? Why can't you tell the truth? Why did a woman get facial herpes from a burger? You disgust me
-
Many nutritionists would argue that there is no such thing as a healthy or unhealthy food item and that all foods can be enjoyed in moderation and in conjunction with physical exercise. We aim to provide our customers with a wide variety of choices to enable them to make choices that can be enjoyed as part of a healthy diet and lifestyle. That's why we continue to provide customers' favourite burgers and fries alongside newer menu items such as salads, toasted deli sandwiches, fruit bags, carrot sticks and organic milk, plus breakfast options like porridge and bagels with low fat cream cheese.
Make Up Your Own Mind have had over eighteen thousand questions posted to the site, and as you can probably imagine, there have been a fair few that have been similar, if not the same. In answering these questions, unless there is a radical change in the stance of the company, the answer will be similar and this can give the impression of repetition. McDonald's probably suffers from more misconceptions – such as the incident, which you describe which is which is completely untrue - than any other food company and it is great for McDonald’s to have a forum that lets the Company tell the real story to customers looking for answers to genuine concerns.
With regards to the spelling on this site McDonald’s policy has been to publish all genuine questions as they were received, unedited. As a result any spelling mistakes have been left uncorrected.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 9. Why should we trust your answers? You yourself are part of Mcdonalds and you would obviously be trying to promote McDonalds. You could be lying to us and no one would know...
-
McDonald’s set up Make Up Your Own Mind to answer questions about its business in the UK in an open and transparent way in order to dispel some of the myths and misconceptions that surround this brand. There are a few questions to which we would not provide answers, for example, questions about our security procedures or about commercially sensitive information. Apart from these few obvious exceptions, we do our best to remain true to our commitment to answer all the questions posed, even those, which may seem mischievous or deliberately antagonistic. To a degree, you are right - it might not be immediately apparent if we were not being truthful in our responses, but this is not the case. We have excellent feedback on MUYOM from both customers and stakeholders and in this day and age, with so much information easily available on the Internet, it would be foolhardy in the extreme to attempt to fool our highly valued customers with false information.

I was wondering how McDonald's feels about the derogatry reputation it recieves. To elaborate, It is often used in satire when refering to fat people or single mothers with 8 kids working there.Do you see this like"We're a big international brand, its bound to happen","All publicity is good publicity",Do you dislike this and aim to prove people wrong,or something else? Also,How do you feel about McJob now being a dictionary word for"Ill paid, disliked job with no advancement oppitunities?"

We are very much aware of the stereotypes, myths and criticism that surround our business and do our best to dispell them. However, the majority of comments tend to be based on incorrect information and that is one of the main reasons why we established the Make Up Your Own Mind site. The site allows McDonald's to respond directly and honestly to our customers and the general public when they ask us questions about our business, be it about the availability of new menu choices, calls for changes in ingredients, nutritional information or some of the more outlandish urban myths that have developed around the brand. It is however fair to say that we can address and respond to some of the negative comments we receive. We have responded proactively to make improvements, for example by providing new menu items such as Fruit Bags, Salads and Toasted Deli Sandwiches, reductions in salt and fat and comprehensive nutritional information available for all McDonald's food in restaurants and online. We work hard to make our business more environmentally friendly. We also invest significant amounts of time and money in training and developing our restaurant staff to discount the many negative preconceptions that exist around the idea of a "McJob". So we do our best to speak truthly to our customers, to give them the real facts about McDonalds, and to take on board their views to help us maintain consistent levels of improvement and progression.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 11. Hi, ive noticed that on you web site in your section 'know where you food comes from' you show lots of pictures of the cows that your food is produced from, however in the chicken section you avoid completly showing the birds. This tends looks very much like the chickens are of a state if you put a picture of them on your site people would be shocked, for example ive heard things about chickens that are too old to lay eggs being used and other horrible things.
-
You are right that - at this stage - no Scout has visited the chicken farms. The reason for this is that McDonald’s has been focused on the food questions our customers would most like answered - from field to fork on burgers, and the exact quality standards of the McNuggets. But for your reassurance, chickens raised for McDonald’s meat products are called broilers and are reared in barns which are monitored to the standards set by the ACP (Assured Chicken Production) protocol. This ensures full control over all aspects of chicken farming, including feed and animal welfare. McDonald's insists that all of its suppliers adhere to very strict standards of animal welfare and independent audits are conducted on a regular basis. No animal used in the McDonald's supply chain is ever caged. All the chicken used is traceable right back to the farms on which the birds were raised. However, a visit to the chicken farms is something Make Up Your Own Mind is actively considering at the moment, so please keep an eye on the site for future developments.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 12. I went through most of the questions asked on the site, and its obvious many muslims are concerened regarding the issue of halaal food at the resturant. Why cant you try putting a list of halaal menu on the site that is for all the resturants across the uk?
-
Firstly, apologies for the very slow reply to your question. There have been some recent technical updates that caused some questions to slip through the net. However, everything is back to normal.
The requirements for the preparation of Halal food are very strict. These requirements mean that McDonald’s restaurants do not currently have the viable infrastructure to offer a range of Halal foods. However, McDonald’s have been working with the Halal Food Authority to trial a small range of Halal chicken menu items in its Southall restaurant.
SEPTEMBER '09 TRIAL RESULT: McDonald’s began this trial because we wanted to assess customer demand for certified Halal food in our UK restaurants. We have learnt that Halal is only popular with a very small percentage of our customers and to offer it we would need to make significant changes to our kitchen procedures and supply chain. Given this, we have decided that we are not currently in a position to roll out Halal food in the UK.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 13. Why is there a Halal questions section to this website, but not a Kosher section? Are the views of Muslims more important than the views of the Jewish community? Is McDonalds anti-semitic?
-
Certainly not. The reason behind this is simply down to practical design. The sections are created based on the questions the Make Up Your Own Mind site has received. There have been many Halal questions asked which could all fall under the ‘Halal’ heading, but there have only been a couple of Kosher questions. These can be easily found by entering “Kosher” into the question and answer search engine or in the ‘Menu’ section under varying sub-headings – for example, ‘Burgers’ and ‘Restaurant Location’.

-
The purpose for the Make Up Your Own Mind website, is to allow anybody who wants to know more about McDonald's and its food, to post a relevant question or comment or read the many others already on the site. There have been some unique and challenging questions posted. However this has given McDonald's the opportunity to dispel the myths surrounding its food and give people the real information.
Speaking only for McDonald's, the service sector is incredibly competitive and it is not just a matter of selling. Many other factors must be taken into consideration and McDonald's works very hard in all areas to continually deliver the tasty food and value for money that sees over two million customers served everyday.
