2. Can you provide an easy to read list of allergens within the McDonalds menu? I know there's one on the paper tray liners but they can be difficult to read after foods been all round them, and you generally don't get to see it until after you've ordered (by which time it may be too late!). Thanks!
Visit www.mcdonaldsmenu.info for a comprehensive list of various allergen specific ingredients content in McDonald's food. (October 2008)

From there you can navigate towards their ingredients and nutrition section. (October 2008)

4. There are tens of thousands of Coeliacs in UK, allergic to Gluten, I have 5 G/Children, (who are not), when taking them to McDonald's there's not much I can eat. Might that change in future? T.R
As you will know from your own experience, the area of food intolerances and allergies is a highly complex one, with many requests for specific menus as a result. At the moment, McDonald's has no plans to introduce a gluten free menu. However, there are a few items on the menu that are suitable for those on a gluten free diet, including: French Fries, Hash Browns, Fruit Bags, Carrot Sticks and Garden Side Salad (main salads are OK without the dressing). Some McFlurry desserts and certain Milkshakes are suitable too. The menu at McDonald’s is constantly being reviewed to create the most varied choices available. McDonald's also works closely with the Coeliac Society to provide them with updated information for their members’ booklet, so this could be useful for you. For full nutritional information and ingredients information for all food at McDonald’s please visit www.mcdonaldsmenu.info and www.mcdonalds.co.uk, or check out the back of the trayliner for a full allergen breakdown. 5. Will you be adding any more organic options on to your menu? Also, will you start to accommodate for food intolerancies such as wheat and diary?
Current times are very interesting with more and more awareness and debate about food, diet and lifestyle. McDonald's is always interested in looking at new and improved options for customers and has made changes such as the recent introduction of semi-skimmed organic milk in bottles and organic milk in coffee. However, it can be challenging to find suppliers that have the experience and the resources to be able to supply the kind of volumes and standards that McDonald's demands. If such opportunities present themselves, then McDonald's will of course consider them. Regarding your comments on wheat and dairy free food items, there are a number of items on the menu that are suitable for people with gluten and dairy allergies, including the French Fries, Hash Browns, Fruit Bags, Carrot Sticks and all the cold beverages. A full nutritional breakdown (including allergy information) for all McDonald’s food items is available online at www.mcdonaldsmenu.info, and on the back of tray liners in restaurants. 6. MCDONALDS SAY THEIR FRIES ARE GLUTON FREE YET MY DAUGHTER WHO SUFFERS WITH DH THE RASH THAT COMES FROM HER CELIAC DISEASE REACTED VERY BADLY ITCHING AND SORE ALL NIGHT AFTER HAVING FRIES FROM THEM YESTERDAY!
McDonald’s is very sorry to hear about the incident with your daughter and hopes that she made swift recovery. McDonald’s is not sure how or why your daughter had a reaction. However, you can rest assured that McDonald’s French Fries are cooked in a new non-hydrogenated blend of sunflower and rapeseed oil, making them 100 per cent vegetarian-friendly and gluten free. A full listing of ingredients for all McDonald’s menu items is available at www.mcdonalds.co.uk, please refer to the 'Eat Smart' section and follow the links for the 'Ingredients List'. Further allergen information on McDonald’s food can be found at www.mcdonaldsmenu.info. (January 2008)

7. are tescos fries gluten free and do you do any other gluten free products.
McDonald's French Fries are definitely gluten free, but this web site cannot answer questions about other manufacturers' products. They are not the only gluten free product on the McDonald's menu, either: other items include the Potato Wedges, Fruit Bags, Carrot Sticks, Garden Salad, most of the beverages (except the coffee), the Strawberry Sundae and the Crunchie and Dairy Milk McFlurrys. You can find comprehensive nutritional content and allergen information at www.mcdonaldsmenu.info. Also, restaurant managers will be happy to supply a menu item without the gluten-containing ingredient, for example a Cheeseburger without the bun. (May 2008)

9. my dauther is allergic to milk, egg, fish and honey. could you tell me how you cook your burgers and your apple pies.(are the burgers coooked on the same plates as the cheese burgers.
All burgers are cooked from frozen on a two sided hotplate. There is no need for oil and once cooked, the patties are seasoned with a pinch of salt and pepper. The burgers are not cooked in the same area of the kitchen as the Filet-o-Fish or Fish Fingers. The cooked patties are then made into sandwiches, and cheese may be handled by all staff making sandwiches. The apple pies are fried in a non-hydrogenated blend of sunflower and rapeseed oil, and will be cooked in their own oil rather fried with other items. Hope this helps – if you need any further information, a full nutritional breakdown of all the current menu items is available online at www.mcdonaldsmenu.info, or on the back of the tray liners in the restaurants. (May 2007) FEBRUARY '08 UPDATE: McDonald’s UK now do not use any hydrogenated oil in any food items across the entire menu.

11. I’m E Simpson, in year 10 at school, I am allergic to diary products. I have been having your chicken nuggets and fruit for all my life and am need of a change. I was at your Trafford Centre store over the weekend with a friend and was unable to find anything that I could eat with my allergies. Please would you advise me on any diary free meals that you have available, I have looked my times without success. If you want a diary free adviser, then I’m your girl!
Food allergy is a subject that McDonald's takes very seriously and appreciates how difficult it can be for you to find suitable food to meet your diet. There are other items on the McDonald’s menu apart from the Chicken McNuggets that are dairy free, such as the Hamburger (which you can have prepared without mustard), French Fries, Fish Fingers, Fruit Bags and the Garden Side Salad. Thanks for the offer of being a dairy free advisor for McDonald's, but we have some dairy and allergy advisors currently working with us already. If you would like a full nutritional breakdown of all McDonald’s food items, including full allergen details and ingredient declarations, you can find it at www.mcdonaldsmenu.info. (December 2007)

12. I'm really pleased that we are able to bring our son, who has autism and follows a casein/gluten free diet to McDonald's for a beef patty and chips. It makes his and our life more normal. What I wish to ask, is could McDonald's provide a gluten/wheat free alternative to the bun? Many children and adults have a wheat and gluten intolerance. I for one would applaud this innovation!
Thanks for your question and McDonald's is pleased that your family is able to enjoy a trip to the restaurant. Unfortunately, McDonald's has no plans to introduce gluten free buns at present. The company is aware of the specific dietary needs of its customers and does try to accommodate them whenever possible. McDonald’s is always working to do more. If you feel strongly about seeing more gluten free products on the menu, please contact the Customer Service Team by using the 'Contact Us' link at www.mcdonalds.co.uk or by calling the helpline on 08705 244622. The team is always keen to hear your suggestions and the more of these requests they hear, the more chance that something may be done. (November 2007)

Food allergies are a major priority at McDonald's and this concern has seen the company working closely with the Anaphylaxis Campaign. No items on the menu contain nuts as ingredients, and this includes the entire Breakfast Menu, all the burgers, the Chicken McNuggets, McChicken Sandwiches, the Filet-o-Fish and the French Fries. The full nutritional breakdown and allergen information for McDonald’s food can be found at www.mcdonaldsmenu.info.
