What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 2. I have just found out that my brother has to have a gluten free diet, he loves your food but unfortunatly, now cannot eat it as it seems that nothing is gluten free. Why is this? Are you planning to introduce a gluten free range so that your restaurants cater for all?

Thanks for your question. McDonald's UK works very closely with Coeliac UK to provide a list of all ingredients that are suitable for coeliacs. On the reverse of the trayliner or on our website www.mcdonalds.co.uk you can find out which of our standard products contain no gluten. Our French Fries are suitable for people who want to avoid gluten. They contain no gluten-containing ingredients and are cooked in dedicated fryers using a non-hydrogenated vegetable oil. Although we do not currently offer a gluten-free bread or crumb coated product there are menu items that can be adapted. For example our beef patties are made from 100% beef with just a little salt and pepper added after cooking and our tomato ketchup contains no gluten containing ingredients. If you would like to provide your own gluten-free bun the restaurant will be happy to serve you any ingredients that are suitable for your brother's diet. Please let your server know your requirements when placing your order. (June 2011)

Thank you for your question. McDonald's UK French Fries contain no gluten containing ingredients and are cooked in dedicated fryers using a non-hydrogenated vegetable oil. Other menu items that would be suitable include the Hash Brown, Side Salad, Carrot Sticks and Fruit Bag. McDonald's UK works closely with Coeliac UK providing them with a list of all suitable ingredients. For example the beef patty used in our Hamburgers contains no gluten containing ingredients. It is made from 100% pure beef and is seasoned with salt and pepper. If you let your server know your dietary requirements when placing your order they will be happy to serve you any suitable ingredient, for example, just the beef patty. (June 2011)

-
In the UK McDonald's Chicken Selects do not contain any eggs, milk, nuts, sesame seeds or sea food. All the other main menu items contain eggs, sesame, milk, fish or their derivatives or may contain traces of these allergens. You can find information about the allergens in all our permanent menu items on the reverse of the trayliner or by visiting our website www.mcdonalds.co.uk and selecting the Food then Nutrition & Ingredients pages. -
Thanks for your question. The cooking oil used in McDonald's UK restaurants does not contain any form of nut ingredients. It is a non-hydrogenated vegetable oil that is a blend of High Oleic Sunflower Oil, High Oleic Rapeseed Oil and standard Rapeseed Oil. Food allergies are a major priority at McDonald's and this concern has seen the company working closely with the Anaphylaxis Campaign - if you have not done so already, you should contact this organisation for support and advice. In all standard McDonald's UK restaurants no items on the menu contain nuts as ingredients, and this includes the entire Breakfast Menu, all the burgers, the Chicken McNuggets, McChicken Sandwiches, the Filet-o-Fish and the French Fries. The full nutritional breakdown and allergen information for all McDonald’s food can be found in the ‘Food’ section at www.mcdonalds.co.uk. (February 2011)

With STARBUCKS and M&S now offering Gluten Free sandwiches, isn't it time for McDonalds UK to follow the Scandinavian franchises and offer Gluten Free meals? The market is definitely there and the Scandics show that McDonalds can deliver.

Thank you for your question. There are no current plans to introduce a gluten free sandwich at McDonald's in the UK. The area of food intolerances and allergies is a highly complex one, with many requests for specific menus as a result. There are a few items on the menu that are suitable as they have no gluten containing ingredients; these include: French Fries (these are cooked in a dedicated fryer), Hash Browns, Fruit Bags, Carrot Sticks and Garden Side Salad (with Balsamic Dressing). Some McFlurry desserts and certain Milkshakes are suitable too. McDonald’s 100% beef patties are just that; 100% beef – all that is added is a pinch of salt and pepper for seasoning so these are also suitable. However, the buns are not suitable as they do contain gluten. If you ask the restaurant manager they should be able to prepare you a special order without the bun. For information, many of the McDonald's UK sauces have no gluten containing ingredients e.g. Big Mac Sauce, Heinz Tomato Ketchup, Mustard, Cool Mayo and Spicy Tomato Salsa. McDonald's UK works closely with the Coeliac Society to provide them with updated information for their members’ booklet, so this could be useful for you. For full nutritional information and ingredient declarations for all food at McDonald’s UK please visit the ‘Food’ section at www.mcdonalds.co.uk. (February 2011)

-
McDonald’s is very sorry to hear about the incident with your daughter and hopes that she made swift recovery. McDonald’s is not sure how or why your daughter had a reaction. However, you can rest assured that McDonald’s French Fries are cooked in a new non-hydrogenated blend of sunflower and rapeseed oil, making them 100 per cent vegetarian-friendly and gluten free. A full listing of ingredients for all McDonald’s menu items is available at www.mcdonalds.co.uk, please refer to the 'Eat Smart' section and follow the links for the 'Ingredients List'. Further allergen information on McDonald’s food can be found at www.mcdonaldsmenu.info.
