1. If local sourcing is so important to McDonald's then why do you import your onions from the US when local produce is available in UK / Europe?
Thanks for your question. Local sourcing where possible is very important to McDonald’s. We use a very specific variety of onion in our food which is best grown in the US rather than in Europe due to the soil, climate and overall field environment. There is also a capacity issue with using European suppliers and to our knowledge there are no suppliers in Europe that can meet our demand for our onions. (June 2011)

2. Do chain restaurants buy food from McDonalds corporation?
Thank you for your question. No, McDonald's does not sell any of its menu items to either restaurant chains or supermarkets. (Dec 2008)

3. why is it that only a few branchs offer the double quarter pounder?? it's in my opinion by far the best burger on the menu yet is not offered everywhere?
Thanks for your feedback and we're glad you enjoy the Double Quarter Pounder so much. Unfortunately it didn't prove popular enough with our customers to merit a permanent place on our menu. However, as you correctly point out, it is still served at a selection of restaurants where it remains popular. If you feel strongly about seeing this return to the UK menu, please contact the Customer Service Team by using the 'Contact Us' link at www.mcdonalds.co.uk or by calling the helpline on 08705 244622. The team is always keen to hear your suggestions and the more of these requests they hear, the more chance that something may be done. (Jan 2009)
