16. Hi I applied for a job at Mcdonalds yesterday. I am a school leaver, yet I am only 15 as I was the youngest in the year. (I was born in August) When I typed my DOB into the age checker on your site, it said I was allowed to work now. However, you say I have to be 16. I am of school leaving age though, as it is 15-16. Am I allowed to work now?
Sorry, but legally McDonald's cannot employ anyone under the age 16. By the sounds of things you only have to wait another month till you reach the appropriate age so please feel free to apply to a job with McDonald's then. You can find out all the information about a career with McDonald's by clicking on the 'Careers' link on www.mcdonalds.co.uk. (July 2008)

22. Why do your employees behind the counter lack the ability to speak this nation's language? I'm not expecting English graduates but they do only need to learn the basics. The fact they usually don't reflects poorly on you as a company. Are you going to do anything about this? The burger king and KFC outlets I visit don't usually have this problem, why do you think McDonalds does? Please don't reply with some "we appreciate having a diverse workforce" comment, I want a real answer :)
Thank you for your question. McDonald’s doesn’t set any specific educational criteria for its hourly paid staff, but a command of English, good communication skills and the ability to engage with customers are all very important skills. McDonald’s strives to ensure that its standards are upheld at all times and the company is sorry to hear that you don’t think this is the case. McDonald’s does believe its workforce is diverse and reflects the cultural makeup of the communities they serve, however, if you would like to discuss this further, please don’t hesitate to contact the Customer Service Team on 08705 244622 or visit the ‘Contact Us’ section on www.mcdonalds.co.uk. Thank you for your question. We recruit on qualities not qualifications for our crew positions, so there is no requirement to have formal qualifications. 25. how many years do i have to work at mcdonalds before i get a sabbatical can i get one as hourly paid or do i have to be salaried for a short while
Thank you for your question. Sabbaticals are given after 10 years continuous service, however at least five of those years must have been as a salaried manager. Therefore hourly paid employees do not qualify for the sabbatical programme (eight weeks paid leave in addition to the annual holiday entitlement). (Feb 09)
