What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 77. Hi I applied for a job at Mcdonalds yesterday. I am a school leaver, yet I am only 15 as I was the youngest in the year. (I was born in August) When I typed my DOB into the age checker on your site, it said I was allowed to work now. However, you say I have to be 16. I am of school leaving age though, as it is 15-16. Am I allowed to work now?
-
Thank you for your question. All McDonald’s employees must be of school leaving age. We suggest you visit the ‘Age Checker’ which can be found on the McDonald’s Career site at www.mcdcareers.co.uk

McDonald's also has employee recognition awards such as employee of the month, quarter and year in many restaurants. You can see them in the posted in participating restaurants. What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 80. What is the latest an under 18 year old person should work until at a McDonald’s restaurant? I know that over the UK it is 11 o'clock but am unsure whether this applies with such places as McDonalds.
-
Thank you for your question. The Working Time Directive states that under 17s should finish work by 10pm. This requirement has been built into McDonald's scheduling software to ensure that only the appropriate hours are worked by the company's younger employees.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 81. What is the average wage for an 18 year old working at McDonalds, who has worked there for 5 months?
-
Thank you for your question. All McDonald's UK rates of pay are reviewed each year in light of external market competitiveness, internal comparability and National Minimum Wage legislation.
18 - 21 year olds in company owned restaurants start on £4.80 and 22 years and above start on £5.75. The pay rates may vary in franchised restaurants. All hourly paid employees are appraised after their first three weeks, six months and then annually. If they have been found to be hard working and enthusiastic staff members, then they are awarded a pay rise accordingly. McDonald’s has also featured in the 'The Times top 100 Graduate Employers' list for the last eight years, and recently won the 'FT Best Workplaces UK' award. The company is immensely proud of the commitment and effort their staffs contribute every day to great food and great customer service.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 83. What will you do if you are forced to work more than the maximum hours allowed by law?
-
McDonald’s encourages crew to speak with their restaurant manager or HR department if they feel they want to work less or are not receiving job rotation or adequate training. If you are referring specifically to under 18s working 11-hour shifts, this should not be the case as there are measures in place which alert restaurant managers and to prevent this from happening.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 85. My religion prohibits me from washing my hands. Because of this, one of your restaurants rejected my application. I am ready to sue on grounds of discrimination unless you untangle this mess of things. I thought everyone was allowed at McDonalds, not just the fat, tubby ones.
-
You are correct to point out that all McDonald's staff, from the day that they begin their employment with the company, are thoroughly trained in various aspects of hygiene, and within this training, there are very strict procedures that pertain to how often and when hands should be washed. Furthermore the importance of hygiene around food preparation continues throughout their employment.
If you wish to work for McDonald's, we insist that you take food hygiene and hand washing as seriously as we do.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 86. Hello, McDonald's Seriously needs to increase pay for every employee, this is why you are regarded as a dead end, LOW PAY job because employee's do not feel appreciated and therefore do not work hard, in comparison to other business e.g. Wagmana (Starting wage - £5.73), TGI Fridays (starting wage - £5.40) Saying you have a competitive wage is a total lie , you need to restructure the pay rates in order to be regarded a competitive pay job Thank You.
-
The rate for employees aged 16-17 begins at £4 per hour; for 18 -21 it begins at £4.25 per hour and for 22 and over it is £5.05 per hour. It should be noted that these are entry rates and successful staff receive a pay increase after a three week probation period. However these pay rates do not begin to tell the whole story.
There are many benefits in place for hourly paid staff, including a free meal allowance, four weeks paid holiday per annum, free life assurance, private health care (after a qualifying period), an employee discount card and a length of service awards scheme. McDonald's also has employee recognition awards such as employee of the month, quarter and year in many restaurants. You can see them in the posted in participating restaurants.
It should also be pointed out that McDonald's and its staff would disagree with your perception about working life at McDonald's. A McJob is a very challenging career that can lead to many rewards. Like other jobs, there are moments that are quieter than others and McDonald's is no different. However, the quick service industry is a high pressure environment, and with approximately two million customers served daily at McDonald's restaurants in the UK, it takes an exceptional temperament and skill to be able to constantly keep up high standards of food preparation, quality and service that the McDonald's staff do. Under such conditions McDonald's staff do a fantastic job. Such consistency provides personal satisfaction for many employees and is something that stays with them and encourages employees to explore and expand their career with the company. And it's not just the experienced that embrace the challenge of working at McDonald's. McDonald's is often the first job for young students, with many of them staying on and growing a career. 80 percent of McDonald's restaurant management started out as hourly paid crew members and one in five franchisees started as crew. McDonald's spends millions on training and supporting its staff. Each year 12,000 people will pass through McDonald's management training centres and 30,000 employees will receive hospitality training across the country, developing employee skills and boosting their confidence. This training works in conjunction with 'Our Lounge' which was launched in 2006. This enables 67,000 UK staff to log on to ourlounge.co.uk and get support and guidance to plug their skills gaps with an online tutor. Staff can then gain nationally recognised Level 1 and 2 qualifications in accredited exam centre restaurants. This commitment to excellence has seen McDonald's recognised by the Financial Times and The Times as one of the top places to work.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 87. It is often mentioned, and with what seems like considerable pride, that 80% of McDonald's Managers have worked their way up from crew members. With this in mind, why do you recruit "external" candidates for the trainee Business Manager role, are they given a fair shot by current employees who may resent their entry at such a high level and is the entry requirement for the position a degree, or do you take on people with previous management experience?
-
McDonald's believes that its management ranks should include both internal and external hires. Our external hires are typically very successful; our current Chief Operations Officer joined as a Trainee Manager, as did 3 of our current Vice Presidents. To apply for the Trainee Business Manager Programme candidates need to have either a degree in any discipline or 2 years relevant experience.

Thank you for your question. A job with McDonald's can offer rich challenges and provide real career opportunities: 80 per cent of McDonald's restaurant management started out as hourly paid crew members and one in five franchisees started as crew. What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 89. I have recently applied to two vacancies available at two different local mcdonalds near me. I am well educated and have great people skills however I was wondering that if all applications for one vacancy are viewed before one person is selected for the job, or if the first suitable application viewed is chosen regardless of how many people have applied for that one vacancy. Thank you.
-
Thank you for your question. The recruitment site is currently receiving 1300 applications per day, so each restaurant will deal with the applications that come in for their own restaurant. The manager will often have only 1 vacancy for every 8 applications so will base their initial decision on who to bring in for the 'On-Job-Experience' from the online test scores. If you have any questions about our recruitment processes please call the Helpline on 0208 700 7007.
