1. Do you know why it says "(c) 1986 McDonald's Corporation" on the straw packets in my local McDonalds? Has the design not changed for over 20 years or have they just found a really old batch of straws?
Thank you for your question. The straws that you refer to were not an old batch; in fact the design has not changed since the date hence the copyright mark. You may be interested to learn that McDonald’s made changes to all other packaging around 11 years ago, and then again around 4 years ago when introducing the ‘I'm lovin it’ theme. Since January 2009 McDonald’s UK have once again launched a new range of print on all packaging. The straws are also due to receive a ‘face lift’ in the coming months with a new print design. All McDonald’s stock is carefully managed at all stages throughout our supply chain, (suppliers, distribution network and restaurants) so you can rest assured that ‘old stock’ will not be in our restaurants. 2. How do you position your crew at work? What is the best way and the latest model for positioning?
Thank you for your question. Generally speaking a Crew Member has a great deal of variety and scope in their role, with three main areas of responsibility – Customer Service, Food Preparation, and Cleanliness and Hygiene. The daily duties of a Crew Member will revolve around all these things. The aim is for crew to be trained in all areas of the restaurant within 6 months, this allows them to be rotatable and enjoy more job variety. (Jan 09)

3. Hi, after a visit to local Mcdonalds, i was unfortunate i wanst able to see behind the scenes due to high service levels. my colleague and I would like to clear up some air regarding how the Fish and chicken is handled, is chicken touched and is the fish touched with same equipment or hands? and is the fish oil by any chance contaminated with bits of chicken?
Thank you for your question. We can reassure that all of McDonald’s UK chicken and fish are cooked and prepared separately. Each is cooked in a separate vat and once ready transferred to separate hot holding trays for a specified amount of time. Whilst being prepared, each item is placed on the dressed bun with restaurant staff using different tongs to do so (brown for chicken and white for fish). This is to avoid the issue of cross contamination. (July 09)

Thank you for your question. McDonald’s is not aware of the incident you mention but this would not be acceptable to the company. Any food which has been dropped on the floor in a McDonald’s restaurant should be immediately discarded. If you have seen something different to this please talk to the restaurant manager or contact Customer Services on 08705 244 622, so that your complaint can be investigated. (June 2009)

5. Me and my family have always been a fan of McDonalds, however recently the food at my local McDonalds never seems to have been cooked correctly, usually burnt, and special orders never seem to be right. It's putting me off taking my family as i seem to be spending good money and never receiving what i ask for. Can you help? Thanks Cheryl
McDonald’s is sorry that you had an experience which wasn’t enjoyable for yourself and your family. If you're not satisfied with the food you have received McDonald’s would encourage you to inform the restaurant manager or call Customer Services on 08705 244 622 so that this can be fully investigated.

6. Why do the staff in your restaurants not understand a simple grill order request. My husband has issues everytime he orderes a big mac. he asks for big mac with only lettuce and onions. The assistants always say do you want cheese? Uh no we would have said a big mac with only lettuce ,onions and cheese! Then after a 10 min wait it's still wrong? Burger king can manage it but your staff seem to be thrown if asked to do something from the norm?
If you do feel that you haven’t received good service in a McDonald’s restaurant you should either talk to the restaurant manager, or call Customer Services on 08705 244622 so that this can be fully investigated.

7. When i was younger, I found a blood stained plaster inside my happy meal box. this was quite off putting, and stopped me going for a bit. However, I do like your food: is it at all likely for this to happen again?
McDonald’s is sorry to hear about your previous experience. This should not have happened. Staff members are trained to be extremely vigilant in food preparation and, if a plaster is required, staff wear blue plasters made for the food industry that are highly visible. McDonald’s hope that this would never happen again but accidents do sometimes occur. If anything unexpected is found in any McDonald’s food please report this to the restaurant manager or customer services so that any incident can be fully investigated and effectively dealt with.
