I know a request for unsalted fries can be made, but I feel sure that many people would adjust their taste to unsalted, if that was the standard. For the small numbers that just HAVE to have salt added, the salt packets would suffice. Do you not feel that this would be the action of a responsible, market LEADING company in the face of overwhelming data about the dangers of a diet high in salt ?

The French Fries are salted because that's how most customers say they prefer them. There are trials underway in selected restaurants with unsalted Fries, but whether this will roll out to all restaurants depends on customer feedback. But you can always ask for your Fries unsalted and restaurant staff should be able to make you a portion as requested. You may be interested to know that McDonald's has been working closely with the Food Standard's Agency to reduce salt levels across its menu and is well on track to meeting the targets set by the Government for 2010.

Offering two menus would not be possible. McDonald's food is made to recipes that are very popular with customers and will in many cases include sugar and salt. The company is working closely with the Food Standards Agency and is well on its way to reach the salt reduction targets set by the government for 2010. McDonald’s has already reduced salt in the Chicken McNuggets by over 30 percent and is trialing unsalted French Fries in selected restaurants. The sugar and salt levels, along with a full nutritional breakdown, for all McDonald’s food items are available online at www.mcdonaldmenu.info and on the back of tray liners in restaurants.

McDonald’s, along with other leading food retailers, is working closely with the Foods Standards Agency, the government-run body which has set nutritional targets for 2010, including reduced salt levels. The company is delighted to say that it is well on its way to meeting these targets and constantly reviews all aspects of its menu to ensure alternatives are considered where possible. A full nutritional breakdown breakdown of all the current menu items is available online at www.mcdonaldsmenu.info, or on the back of tray liners in the restaurants.
