3. Can under 18's employed by McDonald's be promoted to management positions - ie. a 16 year old as a team leader or shift manager?
Thank you for your question. At McDonald’s UK under 18's can progress to either Customer Care or Crew Trainer roles. Under 18's do, in some cases, become Shift Managers, however due to the working time directive they will be limited to what shifts they can work. (June 2009)

4. Under Health and Safety Guidelines - Do I, as a muslim have to shave my beard (which is very short and well maintained) if I am serving food to customers or only if I am preparing food in the kitchen (I realise there is the option to wear a beard snood, but I am unsure as to under what specific circumstances this has to be worn)? Thanks in advance
Thank you for your question. In order to comply with Food Safety regulations, the rules regarding facial hair are as follows: No facial hair except for a neatly trimmed moustache is permitted. If an employee is unable to shave off their beard for religious reasons then they will be required to wear a beard snood (a hairnet for the beard), for all duties, including serving customers. (May 2009)
