17. Yes you may assure me that none of your burgers have reduced in size but unfortunately, that would mean you are liars! Your big macs were definitely bigger than the general size of a cheeseburger or double, and they are just as small!- and cost more! why would that be? how much do they weigh now? and stop procrastinating with your answers!
Thank you for your question. Firstly, we do assure you that none of our burgers have reduced in size. Secondly, this is the truth. The beef patties used for the cheeseburger and Big Mac are the same. The difference is that a Big Mac contains two beef patties. Each beef patty weighs approximately 45g before cooking. However, because each Big Mac contains two of these beef patties the total weight would be 90g before cooking. This is also the reason why the Big Mac is more expensive than a McDonald's Cheeseburger. (Jan 09)

19. Please could you advise what the size/weight of a Big Mac was in 1980, 1990, 2000 and the present day please? I am convinced they have got smaller over time - They used to be a satisfying large meal, but these days i could happily eat two. Thank you. Also, do you think the hamburglar will ever be brought to justice? What punishment do you feel would be sufficient for someone who has flounted the law for over 30 years? Thank you again!
Thank you for your question. McDonald’s UK can assure you that there has been no significant change in portion size of the Big Mac over the last 20 years. There will only have been slight differences in nutrition content, for example a difference of 5 - 10 kcal, from one year to another due to the natural variation of the food ingredients used. In response to your second question, the Hamburglar was a character in the fictional McDonaldland and was a friend of Ronald McDonald. He is no longer used in McDonald's UK advertising, and there are no plans to re-introduce him. (February 2009)
