- 1. Why are hamburgers called ham burgers when there really beef? And what percentage of testicles is there in each burger?
-
Thank you for your question. The word "Hamburger" comes from Hamburg, Germany, which is where the first hamburger was made. All McDonald's hamburgers are made of beef, nothing else. Just 100 percent beef, from whole cuts of forequarter and flank (similar to the mince you'd buy in the supermarket). All that's added is a pinch of salt and pepper after cooking.

Considering I work at a slaughterhouse that handles manufactured beef products such as yours, I find it very convincing that I've eaten several McDonald’s hamburgers with fillers. I've even bit into crunchy thick morsels of various "Beef" by products.
-
Thank you for your question. The burger patties themselves are 100 percent beef with no binders, fillers or additives, just a little salt and pepper, which is added after cooking for taste. If you feel, at any time, that the standard of food falls short, please do inform the restaurant manager, or contact our Customer Services team on 08705 244622. The team would be happy to investigate any issues fully on your behalf.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 4. What measures does McDonalds take (if any) to ensure a longer shelf life for their burgers?
-
None! The reason why McDonald's burgers taste so good is that they are all freshly prepared. It takes around 42 seconds to cook a Hamburger or a Cheeseburger beef patty and approximately two minutes to cook a Quarter Pounder beef patty. The beef patties are cooked without added fat or oil between hot plates that cook the patties from both sides. A small amount of salt and pepper is then sprinkled on. When they are ready, the sandwiches are individually wrapped or boxed and placed in a warming area for no longer than ten minutes. Any sandwiches that are not sold within that time are discarded. This keeps the food fresh, hot and tasty every time.

-
Thank you for your question. Actually, our burgers do come with vegetables. All McDonald’s burgers are served with onions and dill pickle slices, whilst the Big Mac also comes with Iceburg Lettuce. The Spicy Veggie Toasted Deli sandwich also contains vegetables.
The McDonald's main salad contains over two portions of vegetables and the garden side salad one portion. Also on the menu are carrot sticks.

Also, in the instance that you answer that the beef is the same, and not just 'similar', as the mince I'd buy in the supermarket, would you be willing to demonstrate it by allowing the mince I'd buy in the supermarket to be made in the restaurant as a burger, and compared to your own beef?
-
With regard to your question, we actually state that McDonald’s ingredients used are similar to those you might buy in the supermarket. For example McDonald's beef is from whole cuts of forequarter and flank beef, from British and Irish farms only.
However due to our stringent food, health and safety regulations we cannot cook any ingredient in our kitchens that has not come from one of our own tried and trusted suppliers.
To find out more about our beef, you might be interested in the growing section of this site on 'Quality Scouts' - mums and dads who have gone, independently, behind the scenes of McDonald's suppliers and restaurants to see exactly what goes on. They have reported back here on their findings; they are not paid for their visits and are at total liberty to report honestly - and they've been very impressed by the standards they have found.
One scout report that could be of particular interest to you is Dani-Leigh’s who visited one of our Beef suppliers and witnessed the mincing process at first hand.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 8. I have tastes burgers at mc donalds many times and not once have i tasted beef, especially they are not the same as the 100% beef from supermarkets and burger king? Also i have noticed that when finishing a mc donalds meal i tend to feel sleepy, can that be explained!
-
All McDonald's hamburgers are made from beef. Nothing else. Just 100 percent beef, from whole cuts of forequarter and flank (similar to the mince you'd buy in the supermarket). All that is added is a pinch of salt and pepper after cooking for seasoning. However, regarding the supply of beef to supermarkets and other fast food restaurants, McDonald's respectfully doesn't comment on other companies.
McDonald's believes that its burgers taste great, but it's a matter of personal taste, and the company respects your opinion.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 9. I recently asked what percentage of your patties are meat. You answered by telling me what percentage is beef. I already know what percentage is beef!! But my question was, what percentage is meat, meat, meat!! For the second time, please tell me what percentage of the beef is actually made from meat. Beef implies the animal that it came from. I want to know the percentage of actual meat in this.
-
McDonald’s beef patties are made from 100% beef MEAT. Beef meat is the only ingredient in the beef patty, apart from a touch of salt and pepper that is added to the patty after cooking.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 10. McDonalds hamburgers are not made from 100% beef! You said it yourself that they have a pinch of salt and pepper! Spices are not beef!! You lie!!
-
Let’s make things clear. The beef patties used in all McDonald’s burgers are made of 100 per cent beef from whole cuts of forequarter and flank (similar to the mince you'd buy in the supermarket) and nothing else. Whilst a pinch of salt and pepper are added after cooking, this is purely for seasoning, and does not change the fact that the beef patties themselves are made from 100 per cent beef.

-
There is no saw dust contained in any of McDonald’s UK burgers. All McDonald’s beef patties are made from 100 percent beef, made from whole cuts of forequarter and flank (similar to the mince you'd buy in the supermarket). All that's added is a pinch of salt and pepper after cooking.

Are all blood vessels removed from the mince, regardless of size? Are non-skeletal muscles removed from the mince? Is there a maximum lipid content (%tile) for the mince used?
-
McDonald's UK can assure you that only cuts of meat from the forequarter and flank are used in the production of our beef patties. The average fat content of the uncooked beef patty is 20%.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 14. why does any burgers or fries you eat leave a oily bad-tasting coat on your tongue that you cant get off unless you brush your teeth?
-
This should never happen. McDonald's burgers are formed from 100 percent beef (no additives, no preservatives) and frozen into individual burger patties before being supplied to restaurants. The beef patties are cooked, without added fat or oil, between hot plates that cook the patties from both sides - a similar cooking process to the grilling machines that are sold in kitchenware stores. Then they are seasoned with salt and pepper. Similarly the Fries are made from 100% potato, and are cooked in a non-hydrogenated blend of rapeseed and sunflower oil.
However, if you're ever dissatisfied with the food you have received McDonald's would encourage you to inform the restaurant manager or call Customer Services on 08705 244 622 so that it can be fully investigated.
