I was very disappointed when i went to my local McDonalds in Norwich, Norfolk and was advised that they did not do a grilled chicken salad, upon looking at your website the grilled chicken salad along with many other things are showing as not available in Tyne Tees or Anglia. Why is this? The grilled chicken salad is about the only healthy thing to eat on the menu but you do not offer this in certain parts of the country, it seems very bizarre!

Sorry you were unable to buy a grilled chicken salad. Tyne Tees and Anglia are currently taking part in a sales test for a new grilled chicken burger, the Grillstar, which uses a new grilled chicken breast. The store may have meant that the usual grilled chicken salad wasn't available, or they may have run out of salads that day. I hope that you have more success when you try again. (May 2011)

Thank you for your question. You are correct that McDonald’s UK sources chicken from many countries around the world including the UK, Holland, France, Thailand and Brazil. The chickens from these countries are reared and audited to farm assurance standards which are in place to maintain high animal health and welfare. This means the care of the animals is to the same high standards no matter which country the chicken is reared in. All of the chicken used in our menu choices is traceable right back to the farms on which the birds were reared. (March 2011)

Thank you for your question. The Mayo Chicken consists of the bun, a chicken patty, cool mayo and lettuce. The regular bun used is baked by one of our bakery product suppliers in Heywood near Manchester or Banbury, Oxfordshire. The chicken patty is made by one of our chicken product suppliers in Wolverhampton, using 100% chicken breast meat; which is sourced from many countries around the world including the UK, Holland, France, and Brazil. The cool mayo is made by one of our sauce suppliers in Lancashire and the shredded iceberg lettuce is predominantly sourced from the UK during the lettuce growing season, and predominantly from Spain in the autumn and winter months. However, there is also a small percentage from Holland, Morocco and France. (March 2011)

Thank you for your question. The M Bun used was baked by one of our bakery products supplier in Germany. The patty was made in Germany from 100% British and Irish beef. The M dressing sauce was made by one of our sauce suppliers in Germany. The Emmental Cheese slices are made by a supplier in Coleraine, Northern Ireland, whilst the tomato is processed in Wisbech, Cambs, but can be sourced from Holland, Poland, Spain, Morocco, Belgium or Italy.
The Chicken Legend®’s Brown Bakehouse Roll is baked by one of our suppliers in Germany. McDonald's Chicken Legend®s patties are made by one of our chicken suppliers in Hereford using chicken breast meat. The sauce options for the Legend® are the Cool Mayo and Spicy Tomato Salsa, both are made by one of our sauce suppliers in Lancashire.
With regards to ingredients found in both products, Batavia lettuce is predominantly sourced from the UK in the spring and summer months, and Spain in the autumn and winter months. However, there is also a small percentage from Morocco, Holland and France. Finally the bacon, like all our Pork products are made with British Pork, and this product is made in Bodmin, Cornwall.
You can find all the ingredients, nutritional and allergen information on the McDonald’s website (www.mcdonalds.co.uk). Once on the website simply click on the Food section of the website and select your chosen product.

Thanks for your question. McDonald's do not buy chickens or chicken breasts, McDonald's buy finished chicken products from our chicken product suppliers. The rest of the chicken meat is used for other non-McDonald's products. The chickens are joined, which means the legs, wings, thighs and sold to other food outlets, retailers and caterers. Hey i was reading a question earlier about where your chicken comes from and the reply from this site was that McDonald's get its chicken from several countries around the world including the UK but doesn't that mean that regulations and rules are different overseas so therefore animal care may not be as good compared to the UK true or false?

Make Up Your Own Mind has been set up specifically to answer questions about McDonald's within the UK so it is hard for us to answer specific questions about products in other markets, although you can visit McDonald’s US via www.mcdonalds.com. McDonald’s can assure you that the slaughter process for all of its animals is carried out in a humane manner abiding to all industry standards and regulations. Specific to UK chicken slaughter, McDonald’s has the very highest standards in place to ensure that the rearing and slaughter of poultry is carried out in the most humane and compassionate manner currently on offer in any given country and is monitored by qualified personnel and independent vets. McDonald’s will not work with any supplier that does not adhere to both the internal requirements created in conjunction with independent animal welfare experts and those required by UK and EU legislation. Thank you for your question. McDonald’s Chicken Selects are made in Thailand. The chickens are reared in Thailand to the British Assured Chicken Production [ACP] Standards, and are assessed by ACP approved auditors on an annual basis. Our chicken supplier then processes and manufactures the Selects at their facility in Thailand. McDonald’s Chicken Selects are made from 100% chicken breast meat. (December 2010)

Thanks for your question. All of McDonald’s chicken meat is breast meat. In relation to chicken patties, McDonald's Chicken Legends are made by one of our chicken suppliers in Hereford. McChicken Sandwich and Chicken Mayo patties are made by one of our suppliers in Wolverhampton.
In the event that McDonald's can't source a product from the UK, the product is sourced from Europe and some from farther a field. Any overseas suppliers must, of course, meet or exceed McDonald's stringent food safety and quality standards.
