What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 5. I sometimes buy an egg McMuffin (without cheese). Does the muffin contain hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated vegetable oil (trans fats) and if so when are you going to use a healthy oil? Also how many calories are there in an egg mcmuffin?
-
You will be glad to know that the oil used in McDonald’s McMuffins is a new non-hydrogenated blend of sunflower and rapeseed oil. The new blend was introduced to all 1214 McDonald’s restaurants across the UK during April, eight months ahead of schedule, as part of a Europe-wide move by McDonald’s to reduce the TFA content of cooking oil in all its restaurants. The new oil has been developed without raising the saturated fat content or altering the taste, which research has shown is important to customers. The full list of ingredients is as follows: Wheat flour, water, yeast, maize grits, ground rice, wheat gluten, salt, rapeseed oil, sugar, soya flour, dried rye sour, preservative (E282 calcium propionate), emulsifiers (E471 mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids, E472e mono- and diacetyltartaric acid esters of mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids), acidity regulator (E334 tartaric acid), flour treatment agent (E300 ascorbic acid). The Egg McMuffin is no longer on the current McDonald’s menu. However, the Bacon & Egg McMuffin has approximately 375 calories. A full list of the nutritional breakdown of all McDonald's menu items is available in the 'Eat Smart' section of www.mcdonalds.co.uk under 'Ingredients list'.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 7. How much fat is in a typical quarter pounder and also what fat is used to fry your fries?
-
There are approximately 25g of fat in a Quarter Pounder with Cheese. All McDonald’s food, ingredients and nutritional information are available online in 'Eat Smart' section of www.mcdonalds.co.uk under the 'Nutrition Counter'. McDonald’s uses partially hydrogenated 100 percent rapeseed oil to cook the French Fries.
McDonald’s Fries are just like the other menu choices: made with care and attention plus quality ingredients ensures that food tastes as good as possible. The French Fries are made from three different types of potato: Russett Burbank, Shepody and Pentland Dell. These potatoes are not just grown for their flavour, but also their uniquely long shape. They’re cooked in partially hydrogenated 100 percent rapeseed oil and then lightly salted after cooking. At the beginning of the potato season the fries may be given a light coating with dextrose to help them brown properly. This is only to compensate for the low natural sugar level in young potatoes.
DECEMBER '07 UPDATE: McDonald's French Fries are now fully accredited by the Vegetarian Society. (December 2007)
