-
Thank you for your question. The Hot Fudge Sundaes were a promotional menu item and are now no longer available on the McDonald’s UK menu. However the Toffee Sundae is on the current menu and contains 9g of fat, of which 6g are unsaturated. Unfortunately it would not be considered a low fat sundae. What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 6. I notice in many of the answers to questions you use the phrase "non-hydrogenated" to describe the oil you use. Does this mean that it is not even partially hydrogenated? Also, why are there no figures published for the Trans Fat content of your food? Thanks!
-
Thank you for your question. As you rightly mention all McDonald’s menu items are cooked in a non-hydrogenated blend of sunflower and rapeseed oil. This means that no hydrogenation takes place (this includes partial hydrogenation). The oil is GM free, and because it is non-hydrogenated there is a reduction in the levels of Trans Fatty Acids (TFAs) to their lowest possible levels - less than two percent (naturally occurring TFAs make it impossible to reach zero percent). The oil has been carefully developed to ensure it does not raise saturated fat content, or change the taste.
With regards to Trans Fat content there are no legal requirements to label this (or any other nutrient for that matter), however McDonald's is happy to provide additional nutritional information to customers upon request. Nutrition information can also be found on the back of trayliners in restaurants, on packaging and on www.mcdonalds.co.uk.

-
Thank you for your question. This depends on which McDonald’s burger you are talking about. All of the information for the complete burger (bun, meat, dressing etc) including the portion weight can be found on the reverse of the trayliner. For example a Big Mac weighs 214g, Hamburger 104g and Quarter Pounder with cheese 194g. A cooked beef patty as used for the Big Mac, Hamburger or Cheeseburger weighs 34.4g (NB a Big Mac contains 2 x 34.4g beef patties), a cooked Quarter Pounder beef patty weighs 79.2g. What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 8. could you make your burgers healthier as well as carrying on with the salads and healthy options, this could lower the amount of obese people.
-
Thank you for your question. Obesity is an extremely complex issue and is one that is caused by a number of factors. All food can fit into a healthy balanced diet - the key is getting the right balance of "energy in" and "energy out" - if you consume more calories than you burn off through activity, then you are likely to put on weight. And if you burn off more calories than you consume you are likely to lose weight. McDonald's knows that many of its customers are interested in what goes into their food and how this may or may not affect their health, for example how many calories a food item contains. McDonald's therefore provides this information in a variety of ways, including nutrition information on it's packaging, on the back on trayliners in restaurants, and on it's website (www.mcdonalds.co.uk). McDonald's has also increased the number of menu options available to include Toasted Deli Sandwiches, Salads, Carrot Sticks, Fruit Bags, mineral water, Tropicana Orange Juice and semi-skimmed organic milk. The company believes the food offered is of good quality and can be enjoyed as part of a balanced diet and lifestyle. With regards to McDonald’s burger options, McDonald’s UK is now using a non-hydrogenated cooking oil in its restaurants, substantially reducing the levels of Trans Fatty Acids in many of its most popular products. The blend of sunflower and rapeseed oil was introduced as part of a Europe-wide move by McDonald’s to reduce the TFA content of cooking oil in all its restaurants. The new oil has been developed without raising the saturated fat content or altering the taste, which research has shown is important to customers.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 9. I have McDonalds every day what is in the food? I weigh 20 stone and I am only 15
-
McDonald’s is pleased you enjoy its food however believes it is not for McDonald’s to tell people what to eat. Each person’s diet and lifestyle is a matter of personal choice. McDonald’s would encourage you to make the best choices that are right for you and to follow a diet that includes food from all the major food groups, in line with government recommendations. McDonald’s works hard to promote the benefits of having a balanced and healthy diet and an active lifestyle. As a result the menu is constantly reviewed so that it gives customers as many options as possible. Along with this, a full nutritional break down and a list of ingredients for all of the products on the menu is available on the tray liners in store, and via the ‘Food’ section at www.mcdonalds.co.uk. If you are concerned about your weight we suggest you consult your GP for advice.

McDonald's doesn't believe that its food is greasy as the company uses only quality ingredients in its food. In response to your other question, many food items have the potential to be fattening if they are not part of a balanced diet. It's up to individuals to try and lead a balanced, active lifestyle. McDonald's offers a wide range of choices on the menu, all of which can fit into a balanced diet.
