- 1. Hi, Could you tell me where the ingredients for the Filet O Fish come from. This is for my Apprenticeship, Thanks Nazia
-
Thank you for your question. The fish in the Filet-o-Fish in the UK is Hoki from Asian Pacific oceans. The bun used is baked by one of our bakery product suppliers in Heywood near Manchester or Banbury, Oxfordshire. The tartare sauce is made by one of our sauce suppliers in Lancashire, whilst the cheese slice is made by a supplier in Coleraine, Northern Ireland. (March 2011)

Thanks for your question. The fish we use is either Alaskan Pollock or Hoki, additive-free and sourced from sustainable fisheries. For more information on our food please visit www.mcdonalds.co.uk (December 2010).

A friend of mine has been telling me that it is mainly flour mixed with very little fish meat. can you please tell me the ratio of flour to fish meat in a filet o fish patty? Thank you

Thank you for your question. The Filet-O-Fish Patty is made from 75% Hoki or Alaskan Pollock. The fish fillets are cut into a rectangular form and deep frozen into a block before being coated in batter and breadcrumbs. -
Halal is a complex issue and McDonald's believes decisions about which of its products are suitable for a particular customer to eat need to be made by that customer. McDonald’s UK Fish Fingers are made using filleted Hoki fish and the McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish uses either Alaskan Pollock or Hoki. All of McDonald’s fish is additive-free and sourced from sustainable fisheries.
The fish patty is cooked in a dedicated vat using a non hydrogenated blend of rapeseed and sunflower oil (which is suitable for vegetarians). However, due to the design of the oil filtration system there is a small chance the oil used to fry fish patties can come in contact with oil used to cook chicken products during the oil filtering process. We therefore cannot guarantee cross-contamination will not occur.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 5. On your website, you state that you use either Alaskan Pollock OR Hoki in your fillet-o-fish. However, on this website (makeupyourownmind.co.uk) you mention in an update that from Novermber 2007 you only use Alaskan Pollock in fillet-o-fish burgers. Is that still the case? Can you provide a current update? and Could you update your main website accordingly? Kind regards,
-
Thank you for your question. McDonald’s is sorry for any confusion caused, the Fish Fingers are made using filleted Hoki fish and the McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish uses either Alaskan Pollock or Hoki. All of McDonald’s fish is additive-free and sourced from sustainable fisheries.

For fish products Imam doesnt has to give it blessing and all fish products are Halal regardless of how they are sloughter. I would also like to ask that, do you use no veg products for your fries?
-
Thank you for the information regarding fish and Halal, and apologies for the delay in responding. Currently, the only Halal certified food items on the McDonald's menu are chicken-based, and are only available in the Southall restaurant. Regarding the French Fries, McDonald's French Fries are cooked in vegetable oil and have been for many years. Recently, McDonald’s has changed its oil. The new oil, a blend of sunflower and rapeseed, has been carefully developed to ensure it does not raise saturated fat content. This GM-free cooking oil also reduces the levels of Trans Fatty Acids (TFAs) to their lowest possible.

SEPTEMBER '09 TRIAL RESULT: McDonald’s began this trial because we wanted to assess customer demand for certified Halal food in our UK restaurants. We have learnt that Halal is only popular with a very small percentage of our customers and to offer it we would need to make significant changes to our kitchen procedures and supply chain. Given this, we have decided that we are not currently in a position to roll out Halal food in the UK.

Yes, McDonald's uses vegetarian cheddar cheese in the Filet-o-Fish. You can find a full list of ingredients for any McDonald’s menu choice in the ‘Ingredients List’ download available in the ‘Eat Smart’ section of www.mcdonalds.co.uk.

-
It’s not a case of being thrifty. In fact, the half slice of cheese is the exact amount McDonald’s feels is right to balance the various ingredients and tastes of the Filet-o-Fish sandwich.
