There are no plans to add a burger with extra gherkin to the menu. However, if you would like extra gherkin in your burger, just let the crew member serving you know when you place your order, and the kitchen crew will prepared it for you.

A gherkin is no more than a pickled cucumber with some added spices. The pickle is in the sandwich for taste and texture. Like most things they can be enjoyed as part of a balanced diet.

There has always been a debate around whether McDonald's burgers taste better with or without the gherkins. Some people love the taste of them and others don’t, which is OK. However, if you would like a burger without a gherkin, please request this when you order.

This really has people divided. Some people love the gherkins, others don’t. It’s a bit like brussel sprouts at Christmas dinner. For now, the gherkins are staying but if you want a burger to be made up without gherkins just ask the staff when you order.

The dill pickles are small cucumbers grown in Turkey. Once they reach about six inches in length, they are harvested and pickled in vinegar and spices before being sliced and supplied to McDonald’s restaurants. Although the McDonald’s pickle slices are not available to buy, you should be able to find similar pickles in your local supermarket.

The gherkins are a very distinctive ingredient in some of McDonald’s best-loved burgers, and while they may not be for everybody, the majority of McDonald’s customers still want them in which is why the burgers are automatically made up with gherkins included. If you don’t want them, tell the staff when ordering and they will you’re your burger without.
