-
Cochineal is a colour derived from animal sources but McDonald's no longer uses this colouring in their Strawberry Milkshakes, therefore the Strawberry Milkshakes are now suitable for vegetarians.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 63. I heard that McDonalds shakes contain chicken fat. Any truth in this rumour?
-
There is no chicken fat in the Milkshakes. You'll be amazed how many questions there have been about milkshakes. Each milkshake will have slightly different ingredients depending on its flavour but all milkshakes are made up of around 75 percent of milk, which comes from the British Isles. The full ingredients of the milkshake base (before specific flavouring) are: Milk, skimmed milk, cream, sugar, skimmed milk powder, glucose. Stabilisers: E412 guar gum, E452 sodium phosphate, E407 carrageenan, E466 carboxymethylcellulose. Vanilla flavour. If you would like any further details on the milkshakes or indeed any item on the McDonald's menu, all food, ingredients and nutritional information are available online in 'Eat Smart' section of www.mcdonalds.co.uk under the 'Nutrition Counter' section.

-
Lovely as it would be to say that this is the case, unfortunately, the recipe was not found in the Bahamas and had nothing to do with pirates but is the result of research, quality ingredients and careful preparation. McDonald's is very pleased to hear that you love the taste though. The full ingredients for the Milkshakes, and all other McDonald's food items, are available online at www.mcdonalds.co.uk in the 'Eat Smart' section.

-
Sorry to hear this – but there really isn't any ingredient in a Milkshake that would make a healthy person feel unwell. It may be worth taking a look at the ingredients in case you are allergic to any of them. You can find them at www.mcdonalds.co.uk in the `Eat Smart` section.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 68. Is it true your strawberry milkshakes contain beet root juices? Someone just told me they did after I drank one and I'm worried because I am highly allergic to beet root juice.
-
It is true. McDonald's had previously used E120 in its Strawberry Milkshakes which is derived from the cochineal beetle. However, the new colouring agent is a beetroot juice concentrate E162 which is a natural extract of beetroot. It would be wise to immediately stop consuming the Strawberry Milkshake and consult your GP or physician for medical advice.

I know, I just purchased one and it honestly tasted of nothing, but by this time I was in my car, on the M60 motorway going to my next appointment. Very disappointing.

McDonald’s is sorry you’re not a fan of its Chocolate Milkshake. Made up from around 75 percent milk from the British Isles, many of the millions of customers that visit McDonald’s maybe inclined to disagree with you – they believe them to be very tasty indeed.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 72. What makes McDonald's milkshakes so thick?
-
McDonald’s milkshakes contain milk as the largest ingredient. When milk and sugar are refrigerated to a certain temperature, the combination of sugar and ice particles naturally thickens the mixture. The milkshake machines keep this mixture constantly moving so that air can also thicken the consistency. A stabilizing agent, E412 guar gum, is also added, as it is to many ice creams you can buy in the supermarkets.
