1. You used to have a list of products suitable for a severe nut allergy sufferer. Is there one now? If so, can you let me know how to access it?
All McDonald's food and ingredients information is available online in the 'Ingredients List' which is in the 'Eat Smart' section of www.mcdonalds.co.uk. Also, there is a comprehensive list of nutritional and allergen information available at www.mcdonaldsmenu.info. (October 2007)

2. why cant you give customers with seed and nut allergy's the choice of a plain bun, most of us would like a big mac but cant have on,
Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately McDonald’s currently have no plans to change the buns but options to make food suitable for all kinds of allergy suffers are being reviewed. At the moment McDonald’s uses the same toasters to toast all the sandwich buns (a different one for toasted deli sandwiches), and therefore there will always be the possibility that all buns may contain sesame seeds.

3. I have a serious nut allergy. I shouldn't eat seseme or soya either, although it doesn't affect me as badly. Can you tell me which McDonalds products are NUT FREE, what can I safely eat at your restaurants in the UK? What about cross contamination of products that might have nuts in (i.e. ?bean burger) or are these cooked seperately to other products? Thank you. Clare.
McDonald’s is aware of the health risk to people who are allergic to whole peanuts, nuts or nut derivates. Therefore these are excluded from all core menu items (donuts contain palm kernel oil). In the event that a promotional product contains nuts or nut derivatives, this will be clearly labelled in the restaurant. (This policy does not apply to McCafes). However, it is not possible to categorically say that McDonald’s products are 100 percent free of nuts or nut derivatives, because as with all food processing there is always the possibility of cross-contamination at some point in the food chain.

4. Do you have a range of food suitable for nut alergy sufferers?
Yes. Food allergies are something McDonald’s takes very seriously and the company has worked closely with The Anaphylaxis Campaign. Most items at McDonald’s will not contain nuts in the ingredients, these include the entire Breakfast Menu, all the burgers, the Chicken McNuggets and McChicken sandwiches, the Filet-o-Fish and the French Fries. The full nutritional breakdown (including allergen information) and ingredients for all McDonald’s food items are available in the ‘Eat Smart’ section online www.mcdonalds.co.uk. and on the back of tray liners in restaurants.
