2. Why does McDonalds allow this forum to duplicate questions and what is the most healthiest option at McDonalds.
Thank you for your question. As part of our commitment to being open and transparent, we answer every question that is submitted to the MUYOM site. Often people don't look at previous questions so submit ones that are very similar to those already received. We're working on improving the way the site is set out and hope that this will mean people will be able to find out the information for which they are looking without submitting a new question, thus reducing duplication. So watch this space! Part 2: the healthiest option A good diet is a matter of variation, moderation, and balance, and should be combined with physical activity. Nutritionists usually prefer to say that individual food items are neither ‘healthy’ nor ‘unhealthy’. McDonald’s food can be enjoyed as part of a varied and balanced diet. The lowest calorie meal available would be the Grilled Chicken Salad (without dressing), plus croutons, making a total of 209 calories. This could be accompanied by a bottle of water, which has no calorific value. If you want to know how many calories are contained in any other McDonald’s menu item, you can find out by using the ‘Nutrition Counter’ in the ‘Food’ section at www.mcdonalds.co.uk. (July 2009)

7. I remember visiting a local factory 'Natures Way' (part of Langmead Farms, Chichester) and they told us they are your primary supplier of salad products to all mcdonalds throughout the UK, from their land based around Chichester during the summer, and from their land in Spain during the Winter. Please can you confirm if this is true or not ?
Firstly apologies for the delay in answering your question, the team has been very busy with all the questions that are pouring in and everybody is working hard to answer them all. It’s true that Natures Way Foods is one of the suppliers that work with McDonald’s in the UK. McDonald's uses lettuce and tomatoes that are grown and supplied by growers in the UK in spring and summer. In winter they come from Spain. The carrots are from UK growers for 11 months of the year and France for one month. The crops that are grown for McDonald’s are produced to very specific farm assurance standards which require that the environment is protected, natural resources and ecosystems are preserved, and that the farming practices preserve rural landscapes. 8. i thought McDonalds had stoped putting salt on the chips.? it is now the second time i have been with my children and a friends 2year old and the chips have been extremely salty. i preferred it when the salt sachets were left on the side so we as parents decide if salt is to be added to our childrens diet. the branch in matter in Barry South Wales.
Firstly apologies for the delay in answering your question, the team has been very busy with all the questions that are pouring in and everybody is working hard to answer them all. Thanks for your comments. The trial has now been completed and McDonald's found that the majority of customers wanted their fries salted. You can ask for the fries not to be salted, and your request will be honoured, but McDonald's can't guarantee that the fries will then be absolutely 100 per cent salt free. (Nov 2008)

9. Why are the onions in your bugers not standardised? Sometimes I get big bits and sometimes small
Firstly McDonald's apologises unreservedly for the late reply to your question. There were some technical problems which caused some questions to slip through. Regarding your question; Thanks for asking. Depending on the burger that you have purchased, the onions' sizes will differ slightly. The onions that you find in a Hamburger or Cheeseburger are finely chopped, whereas a Quarter Pounder and some of the promotional sandwiches are made with thick-cut onions.

10. how do you use plants and how do you grow it
McDonald's ingredients come from many plants. For example, the flour in the buns comes from wheat grown specifically for baking, and the potato plants are grown to produce potatoes which are sliced into French Fries. Iceberg lettuce is grown, cut and put into the sandwiches and salads. The list is very extensive, covering tomatoes, cucumber, apples, grapes, vegetable oil and much more. All the plants are grown as crops by specialist farmers and growers, in the UK and abroad. The plants start from seeds planted in the ground, cultivated in soil with nutrients, water and sunlight, to then grow and be harvested either as a plant or as a seed or fruit crop. (September 2007)
