16. Do you add salt to your salads
McDonald's does not add salt to any of its salads. However, there is salt in some of the ingredients that constitute the salad. These include Italian cheese, grilled chicken and croutons. There is also a varying amount of salt in all of the Newman's Own salad dressings that customers can chose to have with the salads. You can find a full list of ingredients for all the salads and any other McDonald’s menu item in the ‘Ingredients List’ available in the ‘Eat Smart’ section of www.mcdonalds.co.uk.

20. this is my second question once i ordered for a chicken salad and there were pieces of bacon in it why? I have not bought salad since.
McDonald’s serves two different types of salad – the Caesar Salad and also the Ranch Salad. The Ranch Salad contains pieces of bacon but the Ceasar salad does not. If you are not happy with what you’ve ordered, or receive the wrong item, you should either talk to the counter staff or the restaurant manager straight away

21. What is your view to suggestions that your salad's contain more calories and are not a health option compared to, say, a hamburger?
The calorific value of a salad from McDonald’s Salads Plus menu will vary depending on which salad you choose, and whether you add dressing or not. It is not appropriate to compare a salad with a Hamburger, the smallest of McDonald’s sandwiches with approximately 250 Kcal, while the more substantial Big Mac has about 495 Kcal. To give you an average example, a Grilled Chicken Ranch Salad has approximately 250 calories per portion without dressing, and 320 Kcal when served with Low Fat Newman's Own Ranch Dressing. The Crispy Chicken version of the same salad typically has 350 Kcal without dressing, and 420 Kcal with dressing. A full list of the nutritional breakdowns, including calorific contents, of all the salads and dressings is available online in 'Eat Smart' section of www.mcdonalds.co.uk under the 'Nutrition Counter', or on the back of the tray liners in the restaurants.

23. Is it true that your salad dressings are fattier than your burgers.
No, this is not true. The highest fat content in any of McDonald’s Low Fat Newman’s Own Dressings is 2g. The lowest fat content of any burger is 8g (Hamburger). And even if you were to have the Crispy Chicken Ranch Salad with dressing and croutons, it would still contain 3g less fat than a Big Mac.

24. You offer the garden salad as an alternative to fries with your meals but I've found most times I've asked for the salad it isn't available. Why can't the garden salad always be available like fries?
Restaurants will try as much as possible to ensure that the Garden Side Salad is always available as an alternative to Fries. Salads have a limited shelf-life, unlike French Fries, which are frozen and therefore can be stored for longer. This may well explain why a McDonald's restaurant will run out of Salads in times of high demand. If you have a problem with your order when in a restaurant discuss this with the restaurant manager or call the Customer Services Team on 08705 244 622.
